Position Overview:

We recognize that our employees are our greatest asset. A new contract award has created the opportunity for a AWS Engineer to support technically-oriented government agency in Alexandria, VA. The ideal candidate will be able to work with small independent government agency. You will have experience designing and building AWS cloud solutions for government customers. You will help our customers design flexible and scalable solutions and work on some of the most interesting challenges in computing. This position will require the candidate to work in both Herndon,VA and Alexandria, VA with possible remote work on some days.
Description:
The AWS Engineer will work with an Agile Project Team to migrate customer applications from ‘on premise’ to the AWS Cloud. The ideal candidate will assist in planning, engineering and personally conduct the rehosting migration for each application including backend databases, storage and web technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience migrating applications into AWS and will have the background in technologies such as Active Directory, VMWare, EC2 and S3 storage containers. Must be able to work with a team and attend daily scrums and work independently when needed. The customer will sponsor a Public Trust Background Clearance for the ideal candidate.
Qualifications:

Must have experience level of 5-7 years in AWS cloud or relevant technologies

AWS Professional certifications are required. (AWS Practitioner or AWS Architect Associate)

Experience with AWS S3, SnowBall, EC2, Security Groups, EBS. Trouble shooting, establishing new EC2 hosts and Storage containers

Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the AWS cloud

Experience with Data Center Consolidation, VMWare migrations and migration rehosting to AWS cloud

Experience with Database migration(s) to AWS required

Solid and proven understanding of AWS Security Policies for IAM, S3

Strong written and presentation communication skills

Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly

Experience working with software development professionals

Have excellent understanding of Microsoft Active Directory

Experience with Disaster Recovery (DR) sites

Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
Education:

Must have High School Diploma

Bachelor's degree preferred

This position will require U.S. citizenship and the ability to maintain a Public Trust clearance.
