Sr Network Operations Engineer – Route/Switch/MPLS - Contract

As a Sr. Network Operations Engineer, you will enter a high-energy and tech savvy world. This is a solutions delivery focused role.

This is a 12 month Contract role supporting a specific Insight project with a large customer. There is potential to convert to an FTE for the right candidates.

What you'll do in this project:

  • Work will be performed remotely from your home office; there may be some requirements to be onsite at the customer location on a one-off basis.
  • Provide Day 2 operational support for a newly deployed Cisco ASR MPLS backbone, during the 12 month implementation period
  • Work break/fix incidents and tickets through resolution of issue, or escalate to Cisco TAC
  • Interface with Architects, Design and Deployment engineers, as well as customer end users and monitoring teams to identify, troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Follow customer change management protocols
  • Update network documentation with any changes made to resolve issues as required
  • <5% travel for this project

What you'll do at Insight:

  • Actively participate in the assessment, planning, designing, and implementing of core Network solution projects including: route/switch, security (ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Splunk, FTD, Stealth watch etc) , Wireless/RF (Cisco, Aruba, Meraki), Micro segmentation (ISE/Clearpass), SD-WAN (Viptela, Silverpeak, Velo Cloud, Meraki) Data Center SDA (ACI/NSX), Orchestration and Automation (Ansible, Python, Cisco DNAC)
  • Design, deploy, document and support medium to large-scale network implementations.
  • Work with various client and projects across multiple industries and market segments, including public and private entities.
  • Work with current and emerging technologies: Insight is always working with the cutting-edge solutions from many vendors.
  • Maintain, upgrade, and provide solutions to complex hardware/software problems.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and internal teams; develop yourself as a thought leader with the clients you engage with.

What you'll need to join Insight:

  • 5+ years implementing and troubleshooting core networking technologies.
  • Ability to demonstrate troubleshooting methods with teammates and assist in documenting operational processes related to multi-AS network routing, MPLS, VPN overlays (DMVPN, etc.) and VPN routing (VRF).
  • Growth in technical skills through technical education (AAS/BS), certifications (CCNP/CCDP/JNCIP/CCIE) or other similar achievements is desired.
  • Deep experience in Route/switch including MPLS, hierarchical network design, transport technologies (SONET, PON, TDM), strong routing protocol experience (MP-BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and at least one of the following: security (ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Splunk, FTD, Stealth watch etc) , Wireless/RF (Cisco, Aruba, Meraki), Micro segmentation (ISE/Clearpass), SD-WAN (Viptela, Silverpeak, Velo Cloud, Meraki) Data Center SDA (ACI/NSX), Orchestration and Automation (Ansible, Python, Cisco DNAC)
  • Available for evening and overnight work as needed
  • Ability to work remotely from a home office; but also be willing to be in the office or on a client location as required.
  • Experience working with multiple team members on large-scale projects including coordinated delivery and documentation with internal, client, and oversight personnel.
