Leidos is seeking a Sr. Human Centered Design Engineer /Sr. Database Architect to support the IOSS contract. This role is 100% remote, must be located within the United States.

This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the IOSS mission.  The mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information & Technology (OI&T), Information Technology (IT) Operations and Services (ITOPS), Infrastructure Operations (IO) is to support One VA world-class service to Veterans and their families by delivering results-oriented, secure, highly available, and cost-effective information technology services. IO support helps to provide critical services focusing on consistent availability of Veteran-facing applications and quick delivery of benefits for Veterans.

This role will function in the role of Human Centered Design Engineer (HCDE) developing and delivering Single Pane of Glass (SPoG) dashboards reporting overall system health scores based on performance metrics related to application, interface and infrastructure components. The HCDE will also play an important role in working with enterprise command center design team, incident and event management teams to develop system requirements and solutions for the customer. Primary Responsibilities

The Human Centered Design Engineer, Senior Database Architect should have vast experience in assessing various alternative products, tools, and approaches for data management. Must have ability to clearly and define risks and benefits of various approaches for a given need. Is able to create overarching strategies for design.

The Human Centered Design Engineer will support the development of User Interface (UI) designs based on customer specifications and guidance.

Primary duties include:

  • Analyze user’s requests, requirements documents, and use cases to develop and mature user interface concepts.
  • Transform customer inputs and feedback into concept visualizations leveraging agile methodologies to develop and deliver iterative designs and enhance or streamline existing dashboard designs.
  • Support the software development of prototypes to facilitate interactive demonstrations of the concepts for the customer.
  • Guide systems engineers in formulating requirements, advise on alternative approaches, and conduct feasibility studies.
  • Develop user interface diagrams to illustrate and document the concepts and their changes.
  • Incorporate new plans, designs, and systems, into ongoing operations.
  • Act as a liaison between the User and the Enterprise Command Center Design, Event Management and Incident Management teams, providing support to make decisions on technical considerations and associated problems, issues or conflicts.
  • Assume responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverable associated with the Human Factors area of responsibility

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (computer science, engineering management or other engineering or technical discipline) and 5 years of prior relevant experience. 15 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education
  • US Citizen with ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance. Federal contract requirement
  • Experience in assessing various alternative products, tools, and approaches for data management and visualizations.
  • Ability to create overarching strategies for design and development of user interfaces that present actionable and retrospective data in a user friendly and streamlined format.
  • Experience in requirements analysis, human-computer interface design, rapid prototyping, testing and evaluation, utilizing user-centered design processes
  • Familiarity and experience with Splunk, Elastic or other platform tools that allow you to search, analyze and visualize machine-generated data gathered from the websites, applications, performance monitoring tools etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding and experience with human factor engineering
  • Familiarity and experience with Splunk, Elastic or other platform tools that allow you to search, analyze and visualize machine-generated data gathered from the websites, applications, performance monitoring tools etc.
  • Healthcare background is highly desirable
  • Experience with enterprise command and control operations is also highly desirable
  • Familiarity with application, infrastructure and interface performance.
