Job Description:
Our fast-growing start-up is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with a Ruby on Rails background and AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes and Docker experience, who has a winning, self-starter, humorous, and experimental attitude with a willingness to engage and make results happen and learn by doing. Candidate will be involved in the full software lifecycle from design, development and testing, all the way through training and production support. You'll have the opportunity to participate in projects from conception through deployment while prioritizing, multitasking, and helping to increase revenue by writing high quality code, participating in code reviews, designing/architecting services of varying complexity and scope, and creating high quality documentation supporting the design/coding tasks.
Must Have Requirements 5+ years' experience with Ruby on Rails (must be expert level) Hands on experience in AWS, Kubernetes and Docker Experience with EC2 instances, security groups, auto-filling groups PostgreSQL or MySQL. Strong experience building APIs Must have practical experience in Unit Testing, TDD, Domain Driven Development Knowledgeable and experienced in both MySQL and PostgreSQL API development expert (including documentation) Must have a webcam and be highly efficient at working and collaborating remotely Nice to Have Experience with complex payment scenarios and workflows Can communicate workflows via diagrams Excellent communication skills to explain problems / issues Experience with eCommerce Full understanding and practical experience with Docker Experience integrating Facebook OpenGraph (especially authentication) Experience integrating Google and Twitter APIs (especially authentication) Experience in CI/CD with GitHub and Jenkins Necessary Skills Good understanding of the syntax of Ruby and its nuances Solid understanding of object-oriented programming Good understanding of server-side templating languages (such as Liquid, Slim, etc.) Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as React, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 A knack for writing clean, readable Ruby code Ability to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes Able to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (especially Git) Familiarity with development aiding tools (such as Bower, Bundler, and especially Rake) Familiarity with continuous integration Bonus Experience Live streaming Shippo Java Stripe Spree or Solidus Webhooks Shopify API Wowza Streaming Engine/Cloud or similar
