SQL Server Developer (Remote)

Centennial Data Group is looking for a SQL Server Developer (contract, through the end of the year) to support a client’s homegrown data quality tool that runs more than 10K individual SQL queries daily and processes the results.

For familiarization purposes, the SQL Server Developer will report to the Centennial Data Group office for approx. the first week of the assignment after which point the work will be performed remotely.

Responsibilities:

  • Optimize existing SQL code in Data Quality rules (queries)
  • Analyze the performance of queries
  • Review stored procedures for performance gains/efficiencies
  • Recommend potential database/table changes to improve performance
  • Assess database models, storage and data management procedures to ensure they comply with internal and external standards and regulations
  • Evaluate new data quality rules and develop the related SQL code
  • Work with application owners and account resources to define the requirements for new data quality rules, or revisions to existing data quality rules
  • Ensure standards are adhered to when defining the requirements for new rules
  • Work with the client stakeholders to understand key data sharing dependencies
  • Apply project management skills to manage multiple tracks of data quality rule requirement definitions based on an overall project plan
  • Work with application owners to define data quality scorecard and front-end application requirements
  • Educate staff members through training and individual support
  • Offer support by responding to problems in a timely manner

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant work experience.
  • 5-7 years of writing and tuning SQL queries
  • Proven skills in requirements definition, design, analysis and problem solving
  • Demonstrated abilities in defining data quality related rules and requirements
  • Strong aptitude to quickly develop an understanding of business processes and how data is used
  • Performance tuning knowledge is essential to this assignment
  • Strong working knowledge of database behavior and optimization
  • Significant experience with SQL server
  • Excellent organizational and analytical abilities
  • Ability to provide solutions to problems and adhere to client requests
  • Outstanding problem solver
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
