Engineering @ Tractable 

There’s around 25 of us in the engineering team at Tractable and we play a key part in bringing our AI to life. The way we build our product is by putting a team together with all the skills and context it needs to be able to solve real world problems. We believe strongly in cross functional teams and collaboration. This means you will be working alongside software engineers, machine learning engineers, data scientists and product managers and designers. You will be working out how we can best help thousands of people around the world recover faster from an accident. The project you will be working on:

This role will be remote (for the initial 3 months), and if extended beyond 3 months, then you'll be required to come into our office in Old Street (pending the COVID situation clearing up). You will help us spawn our automated testing infrastructure and drive quality of our applications. This is an exciting cross-team initiative that will increase the quality of our product while allowing a fast-pace engineering team to safely iterate on our product.

You’ll be focussing on the quality area of our deployment process. You will collaborate with teams to define the architecture of our E2E, Integration and Unit testing, architecting and scaling our testing framework. You will be required to gather context about the wider product space and business logic existing in the system. Your day-to-day tasks would involve thinking of how to improve test automation, understanding business logic from Product and writing test cases. 

The role:

  • 3 month initial contract with likely extension 
  • Working with a cross-functional teams supporting the development of our industry leading platform that serves thousands of user’s daily, playing a pivotal role in the future direction of our product
  • Contributing to our testing platform
  • Working with our Product Team to identify key features to test and transform that knowledge in smoke tests and UI tests. 
  • Creating processes and documentation on how to write new test cases. You will relentlessly pursue quality best practices and help improve our testing culture among our engineering teams. 
  • Working closely with our Product Manager to understand business rules and build test cases to test them 
  • Suggesting improvements and introducing best practices into the team
  • Tech Stack:

    We rely heavily on the following tools and technologies below:

    API/Service Automation frameworks : rest apis, python, gauge (bdd), postgres-sql, kafka, jenkins, aws
    UI Automation frameworks: playwright, typescript/javascript, gauge (bdd), jenkins, react

    You don't need to have prior experience in this stack. We are tech agnostic when hiring. 

    What we’re looking for… 

  • Strong ownership and self-drive from the first line of code to the impact on the end user. If you like autonomy and being in the driver’s seat, we would love to have you in our team!
  • A proven track record in improving test automation, understanding business logic from Product teams and writing test cases
  • Strong experience with architecting and scaling automation test frameworks and E2E, Integration and Unit testing, including UI, APIs and Database testing.
  • A product mindset - you have worked closely with product teams in the past and want to be involved in feature design meetings with our product team and have an appetite to understand our customers and their needs 
  • Previous experience with testing frameworks and tools. CI/CD pipelines and deployment best practices
  • High attention to detail and a strong quality oriented mindset. You believe quality is key to achieve success and you champion it across our organisation.
