Job Description:
The Client requires a contract resource to assist in the maintenance and enhancement of the current SharePoint deployment and related custom applications. The Client is running SharePoint Enterprise 2016. The original SharePoint implementation was in 2006. The Client is using SharePoint to create a secure portal for information exchange between the Client and our Local Education Agencies (LEAs). In addition to an information exchange portal, the Client has contracted to develop several custom SharePoint (C#, .NET) applications that are critical to daily operations. The Current SharePoint environment is utilizing Forms Based Authentication (FBA) for security and access to various SharePoint resources. FBA was implemented back in 2006 with the original deployment of SharePoint. SharePoint has been upgraded several times to take advantage of new releases and to stay current on supported versions. However, FBA has not been upgraded and has been modified each time we have upgraded SharePoint to remain functional. The FBA solution is restrictive and requires a high level of administration to perform simple IAM tasks. The Client has recently received a federal grant to update our current security model, deploy an enterprise-wide, cloud-based Identity and Access Management system to replace FBA and expand our ability to provide user credentials and secure single sign-on for all users. The new IAM solution will allow the Client to scale its data availability to a much broader audience as well as streamline the deployment or retirement of technology solutions.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the maintenance of the existing SharePoint and FBA deployments. Troubleshoot and fix any issues related to SharePoint or FBA. Assist the Client in creating new content in SharePoint. Maintain and update custom SharePoint applications (Electronic Data Submission App, Data Sign-off and Lock App, Digital Content Repository). Assist in the planning and implementation of the new IAM system. Provide technical guidance in migrating the current SharePoint system into a cloud-based, software as a service (SaaS). Provide technical assistance in replacing the FBA with the new IAM solution.
Qualifications:
Advanced administration and development skills in SharePoint 2016. Competent in MS SQL. Advanced skills in C# and .NET programming. Experience with Forms Based Authentication (FBA) and the management of user roles and access levels. Experience with Telerik Tools. Excellent communication skills, ability to work with multiple resources, ability to work remotely. Advanced skills with Microsoft cloud migrations of SharePoint.
