JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for a Windows server administrator with 5-10 years of relevant experience to join our team. Virtualization and Cisco networking experience is preferred. The candidate should possess strong customer service, prioritization, and communication skills to enable collaboration with other teams. The candidate would work with a small IT team that maintains development networks and the services that reside in those networks. The services that are provided by the team are hosted predominately on Windows servers (2008 R2, 2012/2016). We also provide desktop support (Windows 7/10) for the development user base. It is preferred if you have some experience with Cisco switches for small environment as well as Storage Area Networks and virtualization

Technical duties would include the following:

  • Manage and maintain currently supported and subsequent Microsoft Windows Server Servers (2008 R2, 2012/2016) on physical and virtual operating environments
  • Familiar with the Migration of 2008 R2 to 2012 R2 or 2016.
  • Maintain backup and restore for the Windows servers
  • Windows server patching and implementing security controls as needed
  • Work with Windows Active Directory, Group Policy, File share, email, DNS and DHCP services
  • Enterprise system monitoring, log management and event analysis via various tool sets, current and future.
  • Windows desktop support (Windows 7/10)
  • Upgrade Windows desktops from Windows 7 to Windows 10 as well as perform workstation hardware testing
  • Windows desktop deployment via Windows Deployment Server
  • Storage Area Network


Program and IT team dynamics criteria would include the following:

  • Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network
  • Provides guidance to the team and management to achieve goals in accordance with established policies
  • Work well with a team and willingness to cross train skills with other team members to create a more diverse technically competent team
  • Freedom to use ingenuity and creativity to develop technical solutions to complex problems
  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
  • Represents organization as prime technical contact on contracts and projects.
  • Work directly with Stake Holders and Project Management team to coordinate planning, design, installation, and support\upgrades of new and existing technologies
  • Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.


Qualifications



Education/Experience:


  • BS Degree in a related technical field such as Network Engineering and Computer Science, MS Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, 10+ years of experience preferred
  • Knowledgeable about IP/TCP, VLANs, VPNs, GRE and IPSEC tunneling, as well as static and EIGRP routing
  • Experience with Cisco IP phones and Call Manager
  • At least 3 years’ experience with Windows 7 and 10 desktop support
  • 3 years’ experience as a system administrator
  • Experience with Server 2008 and/or 2012
  • Worked with Active Directory - creating and modifying user profiles and group policies
  • Experience with WSUS, file and application servers
  • Familiar with virtual servers and workstations using VMWare Workstation and ESXi platforms
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience with VMware expansion and migration of Windows services to a virtual environment
  • Experience with Cisco Switch configuration supporting data, voice and/or audio communication activities for a small development environment
  • Experience with Firewalls
  • Experience with PowerShell, Batch, Visual Basic scripting
  • Keen analytical and problem solving skills
  • Polished communicator (verbal and written)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work with or lead working groups; succeed independently
  • Ideal candidate is a self-starter and makes things happen; organized, and detail oriented
