We’re a team of remote freelancers from around the US and Canada who love what we do and work well together. As a member of our team, you’ll work on a diverse range of interesting projects, and you’ll get to have a real impact on businesses both large and small, by helping them achieve their goals.
We have an immediate need for an experienced Remote WordPress Developer to join our growing team of freelancers for 20 hours or more per week. You should be experienced at writing/scripting custom database tables and plugins. We have one client site that is a highly customized WP install, so we need someone who can go way beyond WP and solve problems like disconnected tables that need joining, extending profile objects and writing or refactoring old code that grew organically into appropriate design patterns.
Note that if you are skilled not only in PHP/WordPress but also in other technologies, then this works even better for us since we prefer hiring people with a wide array of skill sets.
You’ll be a strong candidate if:
- You have strong WordPress plugin development, debugging and PHP skills.
- You’re capable of performing a site migration from a different CMS to/from WordPress.
- You’re comfortable using GIT to manage and push code.
- You're familiar with typical processes required to test and then release WP between stage and production systems and you can do script-merge solutions for complex releases.
- You’re capable of providing guidance/advice and estimates for different approaches.
- You have experience with Woocommerce: subscriptions & ACF.
- You can build themes from light frameworks (example: Bootstrap).
To qualify you will also need to:
- Live in the Americas (USA, Canada, Central or South Americas).
- Be fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Can do video calls with us, when needed (like for the interview).
- Have strong communication skills.
- Excel working in a remote, telecommuting environment, meaning you’re autonomous, self-driven, responsive, transparent, and self-organized.
- Have experience with development and QA processes on ticket systems like Jira or Redmine
Bonus skills:
- Pre-existing experience with Webmin and Virtualmin
- JS Stack technologies (React, NodeJS, AngularJS, VueJS etc.)
- Python / Django
- AWS site and server admin/sysadmin (LAMP)
- Database architect
- Core languages: C, C#, C++, Java
- Mobile development: Reach Native, iOS, Android or SDKs
- Open to working on other layout frameworks like Meta CPAN's Template-Toolkit
- Other roles like: Tech lead experience, technical PM, IA or Business analysis, UI/UX, etc.
