Role: Senior Test Automation Engineer
Location: South West
Duration: 120 working day contract
Rate: £600 per day Inside IR35
To be eligible for this position you must hold valid DV (Developed Vetting) Clearance
We are working with a leading public-sector organisation who are searching for a Senior Test Automation Engineer to design, build, test and deploy effective test automation solutions, working within a scrum team. You will also be expected to be involved with some manual/exploratory testing where automation is not applicable.
You will be working within the Visual studio domain for C# or IntelliJ/Eclipse for Java, writing both the initial Behaviour driven development tests and the automated test code itself. The post-holder will take define Product Backlog Items, User Stories or requirements and translate these into tests.

Expected Tasks
- Writing Test Automation Code
- Create test strategies, plans and other testing documents for major/complex projects
- Maximise defect detection prior to release and confirm customer requirements and expectations are met
- Review testing documents written by junior team members
- Analyse requirements/user stories and design automated or manual tests and acceptance criteria
- Peer review test scripts produced by other testing colleagues. This will include writing Behaviour Driven Tests
- Lead, co-ordinate and participate in test execution, defect recording and capture of test results using agile Scrum and/or waterfall approaches as required
- Summarise results of test execution into test reports, during and on completion of testing
- Be recognised as a software testing SME, mentor business SMEs in support of user acceptance testing
- Suggest and implement improvements to test processes especially in the area of test automation
To be successful you will need…
Essential:
- Able to demonstrate extensive experience of delivering professional software testing services
- Working knowledge of C# and/or Java
- Evidence of ability to write well-structured code, creating robust and reusable tests
- Evidence of implementing best practice in test automation
- ISEB/ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing
- Evidence of writing SQL queries to setup, manipulate and report on data in a rational database
- Evidence of writing Behaviour Driven Development tests
Desirable:
- Experience in using JavaScript
- Experience of non-functional testing (most desirable are performance testing, security testing and load testing) and associated test tools
- Experience using test management tools
- Experience delivering testing in Agile and waterfall project environments
- Experience of use of Cucumber and/or Spec Flow
- Experience of use of Team Foundation Server and Microsoft Test Manager
- Exposure to Continuous Integration/Deployment, Rapid Delivery, DevOps environments
