Job Description Summary
The Grid Automation Senior Project Manager - Software Development is responsible to provide leadership and direction for all aspects of strategic development and implementation projects to achieve the target outcomes. Primary focus will be on management of strategic software development and deployment. This role requires working closely with GE customers to understand and define high level scope, project plans and resourcing at all stages of a project or program lifecycle. Project delivery responsibilities include all project financial and operational aspects: budget, profit & loss accountability, technical & contractual scopes, resources & execution planning, and customer satisfaction. She/he is also responsible for safety, quality, risks & opportunities management to ensure the highest customer satisfaction & to secure project Contribution Margin.
Primary focus will be Device Management programs however portfolio may include multiple Grid Automation projects (including Protection Relays, Substation & Distribution Automation, Monitoring & Diagnosis and Systems & Services) running in parallel.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
Lead cross functional team to implement programs meeting customer and strategic market requirements. Execute projects keeping high standards in efficiency, on time delivery, financial goals and scope management as per PMH rules Contribute to units’ operational performance by providing accurate forecasts in finance Key Performance Indicators: Sales, Cash & Margin Develop and maintain customer relationships, becoming a trusted advisor to influence in their organization. Manage program execution (from tender to warranty end, including delivery & commissioning activities) including conceptualizing, scope defining, tracking and control Be the prime customer contact for the execution of assigned projects. Establish and maintain Director level engagement at critical accounts. Execute Projects with cross functional teams including various engineering departments, contract admin, contract management, finance, procurement & other support functions Develop and manage contractor/subcontractor work scopes and coordinate with contract administration for written contracts Be accountable for On Time Delivery, Sales and cash-in realization (& accurate forecasting), project Operating Working Capital, Margins improvement & Customer satisfaction Anticipate delivery challenges and mitigate risks Follow project management best practices (as per Project Management Handbook and specific Product line instructions), including specific focus on transfer review, project gates reviews, project closing phase Liaise with Sales managers to develop opportunities across the GE Grid Automation portfolio Support Commercial team by return of experience, optimizing project costs & deliveries Monthly update on actions plan progress & Sales/cash forecasts Preparation and presentation of project reviews Contribute to Operation department development & Unit continuous improvement. Coach project team members and other Engineers in enhancing project management skills Lead EHS/Safety actions and performance; be fully compliant with GE rules and processes, ensure project teams (own and subcontracted) are properly trained and holders of required qualifications when required. Follow GE compliance Policies (‘The Spirit and The Letter’) and promote open reporting Qualifications / Requirements:
B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Software or Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university or college. At least 5 years of leadership experience in project/program management leveraging Agile Methodologies. Minimum of 5 years working in a software environment and new product development or software deployment. Proficient in project/program management tools and procedures. Fluency in English Willingness to travel 30% Desired Characteristics:
Ability to interface with and influence all levels of the customer’s organization as well as other internal functions. Prior experience as a Scrum Master Engineering and Business knowledge, with experience in Protection and Control, Automation projects and/or project engineering. Knowledge and expertise in Electricity Transmission, Distribution & Industrial markets Experience with contract drafting and SOW review – managing both commercial and legal terms within a customer agreement. Previous work experience in multi-cultural environment Strong business acumen, execution driven, process appliance, PM metrics, teamwork PMP Certification. Proven Leadership under project structure Strong influencing and negotiation skills Proactive work style, creativity, energy High energy, positive individual loving operational challenges Demonstrated team player.
