Title: Senior Scala Developer (Contract)
Rate: Up to £550 per day
Location: Farringdon, Zone 1
Duration: 3 months with scope for extension
We are currently recruiting for a renowned name in the media industry who are looking for a Senior Scala Developer to join their talented team. They specialise in multi-screen video software company and have their own end-to-end video platform, featuring a cloud-based dashboard that streams media to phones, tablets, computers and Smart TVs.
You will be facing challenges that include encoding and streaming video, maintaining a dashboard for media and supporting a wide range of client devices. The team primarily produce clean, quality code for new features (roughly 75% of the time) and refactor code to improve existing functionality. A key part of the role is also to contribute to system design and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Day-to-day you will typically use Scala, Akka, Play, Slick, Git, Jenkins, AWS, Lambda, Postgres, Elasticsearch, Neo4j, Redis, Javascript, and React.js
Essential skills/experience:
Strong Scala or functional programming skills
Strong TDD skills and care for writing clean code
Akka, Play, and Slick3
Comfortable working in Agile teams with CI in place
Experience using AWS
