Senior Ruby on Rails Developer (Contract)

Job Responsibilities

  • Learn and understand the product while maintaining and improving the existing codebase
  • Responsible for contributing to the development of existing highly trafficked and scalable web based software using Ruby
  • Work as part of a larger technology team committed to best practices and implementing cutting edge solutions

    • Experience & Qualifications

  • Expertise with Ruby on Rails: Merb an asset
  • Full stack proficiency: client-side through the persistence layer
  • SQL proficiency: MySQL preferred
  • Strong web security concepts
  • Design and development of web based APIs using Ajax and JSON
  • Experience in using and administrating *nix based OS environments
  • Experience in test driven development and a Ruby on Rails based test framework
  • Proficiency with HTML, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, and Ajax
  • Experience with version control software: Git preferred
  • Experience working in an agile development environment
  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Nice to haves include Sphinx, Nginx, NodeJS, AjaxIM, Mobile development
