Job summary

Red Hat Ecosystem Engineering is looking for a Senior Manager to join our Telco Solutions and Enablement group. In this role you will be responsible for managing, leading and growing a geographically distributed team of managers and engineers. You and your team will contribute directly to enabling strategic 5G and next generation Telco Service Provider offerings and solutions. You will engage early and work closely with partners in Red Hat's partner ecosystem, with peer groups in Ecosystem Engineering, with Red Hat product and sales teams, in open source communities and standards bodies.

Project activities include building proof of concepts using Red Hat platforms, working with partners to onboard workloads, designing repeatable solutions, integrating solutions into CI/CD pipelines, providing technical guidance for Certification programs.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Manage, lead and grow a high performance team of managers and engineers.
  • Strongly contribute to definition and delivery of strategic goals and tactical objectives of the Telco Solutions and Enablement group and Ecosystem Engineering.
  • Provide thought leadership and guidance for the group within Ecosystem Engineering.
  • Proactively manage your team's technical contributions and delivery of Telco Enablement projects and Telco Solutions.
  • Facilitate success by working with Red Hat partners, stakeholders, project managers, product managers and engineers across multiple teams to ensure priorities are coordinated and collaboration is effective.
  • Be your team's advocate when negotiating project work, schedules, deadlines and priorities.
  • Define and refine group processes, communication, reporting and work items.
  • Coach, mentor and guide your team, fostering continuous improvement in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Coordinate knowledge sharing within and outside the company.
  • Lead all associates in managing their professional careers and personal growth.

Required skills

  • Managing and recruiting teams of managers and engineers.
  • Constructively collaborate with group senior leaders and peer senior managers.
  • Effective team coaching, mentoring, training and leadership.
  • Flexibility to work with a geographically distributed remote working team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in Telco or systems engineering and software development.
  • Experience in a customer or partner facing role.
  • Application of industry development methodologies to the delivery of software products and solutions.

The following are considered a plus:

  • Experience with Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat CoreOS, other Red Hat products and/or industry cloud or virtualization technologies.
  • Contributing to open source communities.
  • Proficiency in Linux operation and administration.
  • Experience with Linux system programming.
  • Experience with software testing or CI/CD pipelines.
  • Telco environments including operations, planning, design or deployment

Relevant domain-specific knowledge and experience includes:

  • Involvement in open source communities and/or standards bodies
  • NFV (Network Functions Virtualization)
  • SDN (Software Defined Networking)
  • Cloud-native applications and architectures
  • 5G Core
  • 5G RAN
