The Surety, Credit & Program Solutions IT Group leverages Agile software development principles to achieve success in its support of the business. We are looking for an innovative, talented, and self-motivated individual who is interested in working with a cross-functional team focused on taking our Surety, Credit and Program Solutions platforms to the next level.

What you will do:

This position will support in house and hosted development initiatives that involves:

  • End to end, cross functional system design
  • Contributions to the evolving system landscape
  • Working with the team to drive the five year technology roadmap
  • Software development – implementation of prototypes and full scale systems as well as urgent, short term solutions
  • Oversight of team technology initiatives working directly with the development team on implementing standards and tool sets
  • Analysis and problem solving

What YOU will bring to C&F:

Demonstrated experience:

  • Software development with strong knowledge of Javascript (ECMAScript 6), Typescript, Python, Principles of Object Oriented Programming, familiarity with functional programming concepts, data structures and algorithms
  • Experience with building .net applications
  • Familiarity with other standard C based languages (such as C++, Java)
  • Familiarity with bash terminal, Linux, and AWS CLI
  • Familiarity with AWS Services (EC2, Cognito, RDS, S3, Lambda, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Azure Services
  • Experience with front end languages (Javascript, HTML, CSS)
  • Databases: SQL, SQL Queries, Athena
  • Ability to set up a server for an application or standalone API
  • Application deployment using Jenkins
  • Use of GIT (Stash)
  • Experience with Excel, VBA and embedded queries

In addition - Individuals who would best match our needs should possess:

  • Proven experience building production level applications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, mathematics, or a similar field of study
  • At least ten years proven experience working in software development
  • Experience working within the insurance industry is desired
  • An ability to use on-line training to obtain new skills quickly
  • Solid understanding of the SDLC process (how software is built!)
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities

  • Must be Proficient in:
    • Writing skills
    • Distributed Source Code Management
    • Defining Development Standards & Best Practices
    • Analytical thinking to breakdown and work through situations or problems
    • Ability to apply Root Cause Analysis to resolve issues
    • Ability to communicate effectively with Customers and Partners
    • Ability to manage time to effectively meet deadlines
    • Ability to operate independently with minimal guidance
