Software Resources has an immediate contract job opportunity for a REMOTE Ruby on Rails Developer.
Description: Designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements software programming applications. Supports and/or installs software applications/operating systems. Participates in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software. Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a manager.
Experience with Azure (Azure SQL, AWS, etc.)
Experience with Rackspace Cloud
Experience with PostgreSQL
Experience providing strong customer service, and/or strong empathy for the customer experience
Experience building CI/CD pipelines and automation for ruby on rails applications (Azure DevOps, Capistrano, etc.)
Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking skills to juggle multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines and budgets with business acumen
Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniques.
Ability to write clear and behavior driven test scripts using RSpec
Improving, Debugging, and maintaining applications in Developing Production, QA and Staging environments
Writing, enhancing, or updating code across Disney Live Entertainment supported web sites
Reviewing and debugging other developers' code
Designing, building, and maintaining efficient, reusable, reliable, and scalable ruby on rails code
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 years of experience as a web application developer using ruby on rails
Experience managing and supporting cloud infrastructure
Experience working with legacy code (Ruby 2.0 and up / Rails 4.0 and up)
Appreciation for and experience with version control (github) and branching/merging strategies
Experience working with REST APIs and micro-service architecture
Familiarity with NodeJS, JavaScript, JQuery, CoffeeScript and DRY coding concepts
Minimum of 3 years of experience with MySQL
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
