A well-known telco company is looking for an Operations and Onboarding Engineer on a full-time contract basis to join their team in Slough.
Purpose of the role:
As an Operations and Onboarding Engineer in the Infrastructure division, you will be a key member of the Operations Team enabling the onboarding and operation of a large-scale telco cloud environment adherent to the UNICA Blueprint defined by the firm. Working closely with key stakeholders across IT Infrastructure in the UK, the Programme delivery team, the Vendor and the UK technology towers, to deliver the cloud environment into Operations
Responsibilities
The Operations and Onboarding Engineer has 3 keys responsibilities, each are to be delivered in line with the Group and UK strategies, policies and processes.
- Service Transition –Operational Readiness of the cloud environment (hardware & software).
- Service Operations – Ensuring the availability and performance of the cloud environment throughout its lifecycle, managing all resources and delivering a service centric environment.
- Accountable for the set-up, management and support of the datacentre tools and virtualisation functionality (including proactive maintenance, monitoring, 2nd level incident management, as well as problem-, change-management, tool lifecycle management, …)
- Perform integration and validation tasks for datacentre equipment and tools
- Monitoring/tracking performance of systems, dimensioning, and capacity planning with respect to future needs, including reporting against KPIs & KQIs.
- Service Transition – Supporting the onboarding of Telco SaaS Applications on to the cloud environment.
The UNICA Operations and Onboarding Engineer reports into the UNICA Operations and Onboarding Manager.
Candidate Profile
You will have technical knowledge of data centre infrastructure, cloud, virtualisation technologies and architecture with the ability to work across multi-functional and cultural boundaries to deliver results and change.
- Experience within operational teams in a service and customer centric environment
- Excellent stakeholder management, effective at communicating at all levels
- Knowledge of core network architecture and the network elements of mobile networks
- Knowledge of cloud architecture, Compute, NAS, SDN , Firewalls, Routing and NFV solutions
- Knowledge of data centre infrastructure, virtualisation architectures and operational processes (ITIL, ITSM, Prince II)
- Telco OSS/BSS Solutions
Skills
