Network Consultant - Swindon - £380/£420 per day + travel cover to client sites

A technology client of mine are looking for an experienced Network Consultant to be based out of their office near Swindon.

The Network Consultant is a Cisco CCNP or equivalent with strong skills in routing, switching, wireless and firewalls. The role is as part of a managed services organisation delivering pre-sales, projects and support. The Network Consultant could also act as a 3rd Line escalation point for network related issues.

Essential experience:

  • Strong Cisco knowledge
  • Flexible attitude to work and travel
  • Knowledge of Wireless Technologies, and large scale wireless deployments
  • Firewall experience - (ASA, Checkpoint) + (Firepower OR Cisco ISE is a big bonus)

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of LAN, WAN & Voice Technology and protocols including OSPF, RIPv2, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, VPLS, IPSEC, VPN, SSL VPN, VOIP, SIP Trunking, FCOE and iSCSI)
  • Knowledge of Cisco Prime and/or Solarwinds
  • Experience with networking Windows 2003-2012, VMware, Storage Technologies

Key Duties:

  • Provide technical pre-sales support, remotely or onsite, through workshops or presentations
  • Scoping of solutions to meet client requirements
  • Build and maintain technical relationships with clients
  • Performing Configuration, troubleshooting and Administration
  • Creating high level and detailed infrastructure designs and solutions
  • Achieve and maintain professional accreditations
  • Managing incidents and problems appropriately within agreed service levels
  • Monitoring and maintaining infrastructure to agreed service levels
  • Creating and performing authorised changes to customer environments, attending CABs where necessary
  • Perform root cause analysis on reoccurring incidents
  • Mentoring and training other team members
  • Work as part of a technical escalation team for major incidents
  • Ensure technical documentation is completed and updated to professional standards
  • Log calls with third party vendors (such as Cisco or Checkpoint) and escalate when necessary  Provide out of hours escalation support via an on call rota
