Mobile Developer - React Native/Android (Remote)

Somabar is looking for a mobile developer to work for a growing startup in the IoT/Beverage/Cocktail space (Robot Bartending!). We are located in Los Angeles, specifically the Westwood Village area.

The mobile developer will be primarily responsible for developing an Android app based on an existing iOS project. The ultimate goal of which will be to create a Hybrid project that supports both iOS and Android. An alternative hybrid mobile development framework such as Flutter will be seriously considered based on the applicant’s experience. We are looking for someone with eagerness to take on a new project, enthusiasm for solving interesting problems, and passion for technology. We are open to partial remote work with some time per week in office.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and test an Android mobile app using React Native to match features and functionality of a pre-existing iOS app.

• Work closely with technical leadership and fellow developers in planning, designing, and translating mobile solutions.

• Design front-end user interface.

• Consume REST services with JSON.

Preferred Skills:

• Practical Programming Experience in React Native on Android. iOS a plus.

• Understanding of (or desire to learn) mobile Bluetooth connection and communication between mobile and external devices.

• Experience with Swift, Kotlin, Java, Flutter/Dart is a plus for extending React functionality and working with current developers to create parity between projects.

• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
