Job Description
Unix/Linux Systems Administrator who will act as a technical expert and advisor on Linux and Solaris. Provide L3 troubleshooting and problem resolution for any Linux (SUSE or Redhat) or Unix (Solaris or AIX) issues.
Qualifications
must have at least 8 years’ experience administering / maintaining the Linux (SUSE and Redhat) operating system and its associated software
Must have at least 5 years’ experience administering / maintaining the Solaris operating system and its associated software
Must have excellent problem determination skill and experience in successfully searching vendor knowledge bases, opening vendor support requests, and generating diagnostic reports
Must be able to identify, analyze, and resolve problems. Support problem and change tickets for client servers, including implementing changes to hardware and/or software. Interact with other teams as required to solve issues.
Must have experience with Veritas clustering
Must have an understanding of RAID, Linux LVM, and file systems
Must be familiar with SAN storage and multipathing, Linux OS tuning, and handling of common configuration files
Must have an understanding of authentication and authorization technologies such as LDAP and Kerberos
Must have a functional understanding of virtualization (using VMware and UCS) and HA concepts
Must be able to standardize repeatable tasks and steps within a team and create documentation or scripts to solve similar problems in the future.
Must be able to engage in problem solving to create a continuous improvement culture.
Must be able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a demanding environment.
Must have fluent English speaking skills to interface with PMs and customer
Must have excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with other teams, account team, PMs, peers and customer
Must be located in the Reston, VA area since they will be onsite with the customer
Prefer someone with a basic knowledge of Agile methodologies
Prefer someone with the ability to write scripts in one or more of the scripting languages such as bash, Perl, Python, or R
Prefer someone with prior IBM experience who can come up to speed quickly
