Your role
The Senior Linux Administrator will be a key technical engineer in the delivery of the payment gateway services, utilising their excellent technical knowledge and experience to proactively define and develop the environment and procedures, and be an expert trouble-shooter for major or critical service incidents.
As a member of the Operations Infrastructure teams, the primary function of the role is to ensure the Linux and Middleware-based infrastructure is secure, robust, resilient and compliant to PCI standards.
The Senior Engineer reports into the Linux Team Leader. This role holds accountability for Middleware service projects and production support to the BPS payment gateway services Smartpay -S and Smartpay -B.

Essential Skills
RHCSA minimum (RHEL 6 / RHEL 7) - or equivalent provable RHEL knowledge!
Strong experience in administering Red Hat JBoss products such as EAP, FUSE, and JBoss ON.
Working experience with Java application containers, Docker, and Kubernetes/Openshift Platform.
Proven experience with Automating operational processes and build processes using tools like Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Jenkins, Artefactory. Continuous integration/deployment and Git advantageous.
Strong middleware configuration skills with JBoss EAP 5/6/7 (best practice, performance tuning, etc.)
Strong emphasis on CHEF skills, including writing deployment and test scripts.
Desirable skills
RHCJA preferred
Good working knowledge of Apache/mod_cluster/mod_proxy/mod_jk and RHEL HA Proxy.
Experience supporting Java applications (Basic Java development skills advantageous)
Good troubleshooting skills around application performance and deployment.
Strong skills in developing app monitoring solutions.
Understanding of MicroService architectures.
Experience with app security configuration/best practices e.g. SSL, encryption hardware, certificates.
Specific requirements:
As part of this role you may be required to work outside of normal office hours including weekends, this could be in The Logic Group premises in Fleet or in various data centre environments. All technical operations engineers are required take part in out of hours support via an on call rota.
