Lead Systems Engineer (Remote)

BIT Insight Group (BIT) is a growing technology startup, invested in delivering innovative solutions. BIT is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer. The Lead Systems Engineer will lead technical planning, integration, verification and validation, for all aspect of a datacenter (SAN, LAN, WAN, Virtualization, Compute and Cloud). This is a project-to-project contract and remote position.

Job Details:

- Technical Project(s) oversight

- Performs systems administration.

- Monitors and tunes systems to ensure optimum level of performance.

- Oversees software installations and upgrades to related software packages.

- Collects and reviews system data for capacity and planning purposes.

- Analyzes capacity data and develops capacity plans for appropriate level enterprise-wide systems.

- Coordinates with management in implementing changes.

- Supports design and configuration of complex system landscapes.

- Supports complex data/media recoverability through system backups and database archive operations.

- Plans, coordinates and directs data refresh strategies.

- Oversees, recommends and implements database solutions and enhancements to ensure an improvement in system reliability and performance.

- Oversees and applies support packages/patches to maintain system integrity.

- Develops and maintains system documentation to ensure that documentation is current.

- Oversees maintenance of a library of system-supporting process and procedure documentation.

- Interacts with client management to answer questions, problems and requests regarding complex system issues.

- Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel.

- Must be capable of learning new technologies and concepts quickly.

Skill Requirements:

- In depth experience within IT infrastructure designing, managing, and operating data protection environments

- Advanced Operating Systems Support: Linux, Windows, VMware

- Security (understanding firewalls, SSO, MFA, certificates)

- Microsoft O365

- Windows PowerShell (other scripting skills)

- Microsoft Azure

- Amazon Web Service (AWS)

- Active Directory

- Implementation Knowledge

- Engineering Operations experience

- Advanced skill set with Data Systems platforms – specifically: EMC, HP, NetApp, Brocade

- Solid understanding of Data Protection platforms, Commvault, Veeam

- Ability to create documentation including Visio is required

- Production and after-hours support are required

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour
