Title: Lead Network Engineer - Wireless

Location: Birmingham AL (12+ Months)

Work remotely until Client lifts the lockdown and re-opens

Position Description and Responsibilities:

  • Telecommunications department requires an experienced Wireless Engineer
  • Accountable for the operational integrity, architecture, and deployment of production and corporate network infrastructure.
  • Serve in a role as Network Architect, and lead the design and implementation of new locations and campus expansion.
  • Work with various teams to help introduce new technologies across the organization.
  • Ensure connectivity and bandwidth for 13,000+ corporate employees.
  • Ensure accurate monitoring, logging, metrics, and alerting of network connectivity.
  • Support network issues from wireless access to transit.
  • Management of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Document network infrastructure.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.
  • Lead technical decisions to improve the network landscape
  • Help create and improve both existing and future alerting and monitoring systems
  • Develop and optimize processes and documentation
  • Perform network configuration changes and optimizations across a multi-vendor, multi-protocol environment
  • Work on performance measurement to ensure improved efficiency
  • Provide solutions based on high level requirements gathered from internal customers and partner teams.
  • Drive high level strategy for larger and/or complex deployments.
  • Collaborate with other network engineers in order to create and maintain best practices across the team.
  • Actively review deployed technologies, performance, capacity and SLAs from a strategic point of view and make recommendations that ultimately spawn new projects for the team.
  • Attend meetings and work with project teams.
  • Ability to manage long term, project/milestone based work with multiple teams.

Required IT Skills:

  • Must have 7-9+ years of experience in Network Engineering with alteast 2-3 years as lead role.
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA, BS, etc.) in Computer Science, IT, Business, or a related field required with Seven (7) years of related experience. Work experience may substitute for education requirements.
  • Hands-on, expert-level experience and demonstrated mastery with architecting, deploying, and operating large enterprise networks. This includes experience architecting environments with enterprise class firewalls, routers, switches, VPN (IPSEC, SSL), load balancers, and wireless access points and controllers.
  • petence architecting, configuring, and troubleshooting IP routing/switching technologies and protocols including TCP/IP, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, IPsec, GRE, MPLS, and their best-practices.
  • Expert-level understanding of TCP/IP network protocols, including expert-level understanding of common application protocols to assist in isolating issues in technology areas outside of networking.
  • Expert-level competence architecting, deploying, and troubleshooting 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax radio technologies.
  • Experience architecting and deploying VoIP and Video Conferencing technologies.
  • Experience architecting and deploying Cisco UCS environments

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
