PilotFish, Anything to Anything Integration, Anywhere

Get into the booming healthcare industry with PilotFish! Healthcare integration is growing exponentially. Government mandates for data sharing and interoperability, reporting requirements for Covid-19, telehealth authorization, robotic surgery, and as a hospital CEO recently shared "we will be integrating everything in the hospital right down to the broom closet" have led to the rapid expansion of needing to integrate everything to everything. The requirements for integration in Healthcare are virtually limitless.

PilotFish has the right product, at the right time. Our product was architected to be infinitely extensible and flexible. Need support for a new data format? No problem. Where other products take months to extend, we can do it in weeks, often in days. Need a new processor, it's done in a few hours. Our architecture lets us use Open Source components and our Open API, or .Net bridge offers rapid extensibility.

We have the easiest integration engine IDE to use or learn, bar none. Our exclusive graphical "Assembly Line" process is natively self-documenting, works with any data format, let's you select any connectivity protocol from a drop-down and configure it in seconds. We also offer the only graphical 3 pane drag & drop data mapper. In our data mapper, you can do ANYTHING that you can do programmatically, via drag and drop, in the graphical view. Power users can work in XSLT in real-time or toggle back and forth between the graphical and code view. (And a competitor's CEO said it could not be done.)

PilotFish has THE solution for solving the IT shortage in Healthcare. Our graphical IDE has opened the door for business analysts to provide an active role in integration projects, management and maintenance. (Many clients report BAs are doing up to 90% of the work.)

Another major change in healthcare is the need to work with both HIPAA EDI and HL7 data formats. PilotFish is the only product that offers built-in robust support for both. Users only need to learn how to use one tool, license one product AND organizations can use business analysts for the management and maintenance of their interfaces.

If you are an experienced Sr Java Software Engineer who has had a career in integration and has been working with middleware (MuleSoft, WebSphere, BizTalk, WebMethods, Informatica, InterSystems, NextGen Connect/Mirth, SeeBeyond, eGate, Orion Rhapsody etc.) we have the perfect opportunity for you.

For nearly 20 years, PilotFish has been purely focused on integration. In insurance, today, our product is a connection point to 95% of the top insurers (AIG, AEGON, AAA, John Hancock, Travelers etc.) In healthcare, we have customers in virtually every area of the industry (HIEs, Electronic Health Record Vendors, Cloud Solution Providers, Payers, Medical Equipment Manufacturers, Population Health providers, Benefits Administrators, Medical Labs, Hospitals, Data Analytics providers etc.)

In bake-off after bake-off, we blow away our competition. We can prototype a solution in hours and visually show how our software can solve a problem. We offer the easiest software to use and learn. It is the most intuitive, flexible and extensible integration engine on the planet.

Our projects are exciting. We never know who will contact us and what kind of projects we will be working on. It could be a robotic surgery offering where PilotFish would meet the integration requirements for connecting video and surgery equipment and EMR and patient monitoring systems. Or it could be part of a Government grant to expedite Covid-19 reporting. It could be to support telehealth or Population Health to improve patient health and outcomes. The applicable use cases for PilotFish's integration capabilities are almost endless.

What is exciting at PilotFish is that our projects go in fast and with very small teams, usually a team of 2 or at the most 3. You get to see the results of your work in a few short months. Often just a few weeks. At PilotFish, you have the opportunity to wear a lot of hats and manage the entire process. You won’t be bored doing one thing. We have a very flat management structure, too, so you don’t have a lot of process and bureaucracy to deal with. You’ll report to the Director of Services and Development and have entire responsibility for your projects. Because we have brought all our development back to the U.S. all our IT staff participates in development. We try to have about 30% of your time allotted for working on custom development related to our products or for customers.

Your role a PilotFish is to help customers implement our products and to support them after deployment. Our typical process for getting new clients involves giving a Webex demo of our software. Sometimes this is followed by a POC and a pilot implementation. Next comes architecting a solution and building prototypical interfaces that can be used to train customers (our typical training program is just 4 days). We may then go on to build out the first interfaces so clients can use these as templates or we may mentor them as they build these on their own. Often, we help with enhancements to improve performance and if they get stuck we dive in and do troubleshooting.

PilotFish is looking for really smart people who love programming, architecting solutions and solving complex integration problems. Our software is built in Java, so Java proficiency is a must as is liking to solve client problems and working with them.

Skills You Must Have

  • Solid work experience with Java (8+ years working experience)
  • Knowledge of XSLT, XML, SQL, JSON and Web technologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to interact well with clients
  • Experience with middleware software and doing integration projects
  • Healthcare experience with HL7 and EDI is a big plus

Candidates Should Also Have

  • Authorization to work in the US, must have permanent status, or be a US citizen. (We cannot sponsor at this time.)
