As a Lead Hadoop Developer, you are required to restructure and build a Hadoop platform to ensure that data can constantly be ingested, securely. You will also have the chance to work alongside Data Scientists for one of the UKs leading Insurance providers.

This company are a niche UK-based Insurance provider, who have progressed massively over the past few years. The reason behind this growth is down to the fact they have provided a user-friendly online platform that allows their customers to easily access their insurance products. They have put a huge focus into augmenting their analytical team to ensure they compete with their rivals by providing the most advanced insights into new ways of diversifying themselves. Since they deal with millions of transactions on a daily basis, they require a high-scalable big data platform that they can trust to cope with such volumes of data.
THE ROLE:
As a Lead Hadoop Developer, you will be trusted to restructure the current Hadoop platform to provide a stable environment. You will be required to optimise Hive queries and introduce new features of the Hadoop eco-system such as Oozie or Zoopkeeper. You will also be building a data lake within Hadoop for the Data Scientists. This will allow them to access the necessary data to build their models. You will be building the ETL pipelines in Python and productionising their models. If you have experience with R, that will also be helpful. This is a demanding role that requires a contractor who has experience leading teams and dealing with high-level stakeholders so will be a fantastic opportunity to add to your repertoire.
