On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Junior UX Designer for a 9-month contract based in Milton Keynes.

Purpose of the Role:

  • We are looking for a talented User Interface and Interaction designer to help design and continue to shape a unique, user-centric online mortgage services tool. The role is to support the Senior UX Designer in picking up and continuing the design work started as well as build out an exemplary UI style guide in Sketch.
  • You will be able to make UI design decisions and to translate any given user-experience journey into a smooth and intuitive interaction. This is a great opportunity for a junior UI designer to work closely with the UX function, honing their own skills and developing/learning their UX approach to support the early development of ideas, analysis and design, engaging with end-users to facilitate a process of iterative design / continuous improvement.

As a Junior UX Designer, you will be accountable to:

  • Create and deliver pixel perfect UI screen designs.
  • Work with existing design layout and element styles to create a consistent experience.
  • Work closely with UX designer using wireframes, prototypes, style guides to effectively communicate your design ideas.
  • Design for varying screen sizes, with understanding of element optimisation on smaller devices.
  • Work closely with and support the Development team, continually communicating effectively your design.
  • Work as part of a team and contribute to getting the job over the line.
  • Ensure design decisions are based on the overall design roadmap as well as your own design thinking and fundamental principles.
  • Continually keep yourself and your design team updated with the latest changes in your industry’s standards.
  • Work with the wider brand team and design community to ensure compliance with and full leverage of the corporate brand.

What we require from the candidate:

  • Good level and understanding of Sketch including extensive use of text styles and symbols.
  • Experience using tools such as Zeplin, InVision, Adobe CC.
  • Experience of working to accessibility standards, knowledge of WCAG accessibility guidelines.
  • Creative ideas with a problem-solving mind set.
  • Experience using other tools such as Axure, Userzoom.
  • Understanding of basic front-end languages: HTML5, CSS3Javascript.
