I am reposting this role and have included feedback from the hiring manager (the feedback is italicized)
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Tom. I am Partner & VP at RSM Solutions Inc. Some of you may be familiar with my approach and my job descriptions...some are not. To those that are not familiar, welcome to the party. To those of you that are, welcome back to the festivities.
About 94.675% of my time is spent customer-facing. That being said, their are no 'layers' between me and any of my clients. Most of my time is spent talking to hiring managers, Directors, VP's & CIO's. In many cases, the hiring manager is someone I will have personally known for many many years (that is the case here as well). Due to this, I get down into the real details of what a hiring manager needs, as opposed to listing a zillion things on a job description (where sometimes a good chunk of what you see in that job description makes absolutely no sense).
That being said, here are a couple key points for this role:
1) This particular hiring manager is a good friend of mine that I have known personally for about 8 years or so. He is easy going, and straightforward with regard to his expectations. He will be managing your activities and is a manager that actually has his hands on the code as well.
2) This particular client has been using offshore resources and, while those resources are good at 'task based' activities, they are really in need of someone that can really take on projects from the perspective of not just 'doing tasks' but thinking those tasks through to their logical conclusion. I am not trying to cast negativity on off shore resources, I am just trying to explain the kind of individual that will be needed here in this role...we will need a developer that can see a project through from start to finish, figure out where the challenges are going to be, figure out what to do about those inevitable challenges that come up during the SDLC, and see projects through their logical conclusions.
3) This is an environment with no drama... If you are the kind of individual that believes the entire planet revolves around them, then you may want to consider looking elsewhere...I hear the Kardashians are hiring...
This is a contract role that will go until the end of May 2021. We will need someone onsite in Maple Shade, New Jersey for this project. Their are no options for remote work. We will be concentrating on individuals that are local to Maple Shade...or where Maple Shade is a commutable distance for them.
Here is the Job Description:
Java Developer
Location – Maple Shade, New Jersey (must be onsite)
Duration – until end of May 2021
Skill Set Needed: We are in need of a skilled Java developer. This client primarily focuses on full stack web development using Java. However, if you have had a bigger focus on Front End Development, that would be great to see... So, experience with Angular, JavaScript and so on will be great to see. Some of the skills needed for success in this role include: Spring, core Java, , Angular, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript along with front end Java development skills. The ability to clearly see a project from start to finish will be needed for this role. If you have, perhaps, been the only Java developer on a project, that will make for a great fit for this role.
All this being said, you will be working on several projects between now and the end of May 2021, so their will be several projects that will involve the entire SDLC from requirements gathering through the development, testing, and deployment process. So, if you have experience taking Java project through the entire SDLC, that would be great to know more about.
