Responsibilities

We are currently seeking an ITProject Manager for our Herndon, VA location on a project for the U.S. Department of Defense. Must hold a current/active Secret (SSBI) or Top Secret clearance to be considered.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is a critical part of the program management team working on a web-based software development project for the U.S. Department of Defense. The Project Manager will interact with technical and non-technical team members at all levels including senior, and at times clients, supporting Agile principles, using project management and ticketing system for implementing agile processes; participate in, facilitate/manage scrums and project roadmap. Candidate must have ability to meet short suspense dates with superior quality and attention to detail. Must demonstrate exceptional communication and relationship management skills as well the ability to handle multiple, and at times competing tasks, set priorities, manage time, and work as part of a virtual team are integral parts of the task environment. Must have extensive experience producing high quality project artifacts for every phase of application development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under general direction, the PM is responsible for guiding teams using the Agile methodology, providing integrated working group (IWG) team members with feedback and means of improvement, catalyzing growth and facilitating collaboration across all workstreams, both internal and external to the contract.
  • Produce and maintain project artifacts including project plans, schedules, briefing decks, risk registry, meeting notes, communication plans, ad hoc reports, development road map, etc.
  • Direct integrated working groups/project team to establish project artifacts, milestones, risk remediation, anticipate and communicate issues, and monitor adherence to project scope, requirements, plans, design documents, and schedules
  • Providing hands-on support to all team members, collaborating with people across widely varying levels and roles, leading the team toward further understanding and adoption of Agile as well as overall program growth and improvement
  • Facilitates needs assessment and the development of recommended project control solutions to be used for planning, scheduling, and tracking projects through integration of various project management tools
  • Identify, monitor and communicate project risks and issues
  • Contribute to project estimation process.
  • Plan, schedule, monitor, and report on activities related to multiple projects.
  • Coach/mentor and advise team members to accomplish project goals, to meet established schedules, and resolve technical/operational needs.

Qualifications
  • Expert Agile methodology, MS Project, MS Office
  • Proficient with JIRA
  • Exposure to project transformations
  • 3+ years’ experience working in agile, software development and production environment
  • 5+ years’ experience with project management principles
  • Experience supporting IA/cyber security efforts a plus
  • 5+ years’ experience mentoring team members, scrum masters and product owners
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • 5+ years’ experience in assisting with daily task/project coordination for production team
  • 5+ years’ experience in assisting with developing procedural and technical documentation
  • Must demonstrate a strong sense of self-motivation, time management and direction
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense personnel security issues is a plus but not required

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Scrum Coach Certification or Scrum Master Certification
