Role: Infrastructure Snr Project Manager / Programme Manager

Location: London

Duration: 8 Month contract

Day Rate: Up to £550 a day depending on experience

As the Infrastructure Project Delivery Manager you will be responsible for a team of engineers dedicated to the implementation of the company cloud infrastructure and migration of legacy environments to this new infrastructure. This will involve managing the deployments of projects both new requirements and of expanding/changes to existing services across the business. This is a pivotal role that joins up the project life cycle to provision and manage existing and new solution deployments utilising the new public and private cloud infrastructure. You will be working with 3rd party hosting providers and internal teams for the Cloud and compute elements and server provisioning. This will entail working closely with technical teams across Infrastructure and application architects to deliver robust and sustainable solutions on time, in budget and to quality.

This will be delivered from various locations from data centres and production sites across the UK and the US. You will be responsible for a team of skilled technical engineers competent in delivering complex solutions and builds utilising the existing technologies adopted by the company across all disciplines of compute, storage, virtualisation, backup and monitoring & performance tools spread across regional sites. You will need to be strong project delivery orientated individual capable of managing large complex projects, a team of full time and project resource and demand resource alongside PM's. It is essential you have a high level of understanding of a variety of systems across the group including legacy systems and of most up-to-date including those offered by our 3rd party suppliers of hosting services.


The role can be performed from London and/or remotely. The main DC's are based in London. There will be occasional travel to national sites with frequent travel to the London. The nature of the role will require elements of out of hours to accommodate project life cycles and changes to live systems that can only be made at agreed outage windows. These will be arranged with prior approvals and agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall planning, control, status reporting, stability and project delivery of the Hosting work stream.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, estimates, resource plans, and status reports to maintain customer satisfaction
  • Responsible for managing the budget and reporting progress of the project on an ongoing basis
  • Obtain feedback from key stakeholders and provide accurate reporting at critical milestones and manage stakeholder relationships
  • Establish reporting structures inside the project team, ensure team engagement and review the performance of project team members
  • Manage and mentor the Infrastructure Cloud and Compute team
  • Provide project status reporting and highlighting risks and issues
  • Managing the technical delivery teams on all aspects of hardware, peripherals, server configurations, Storage SAN/NAS, backups and monitoring and elements of AD administration throughout the infrastructure which comprises the 'core infrastructure' for project delivery
  • To demonstrate continual self-learning in the immediate and related disciplines, including keeping up to date with the latest market changes and offerings including 3rd party hosting providers
  • To transfer/share knowledge with colleagues to effectively develop the IT group.
  • To demonstrate excellent resource management and able to think on your feet to deliver complex and time critical solutions
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnosis skills, escalating where appropriate and using resources efficiently
  • Maintaining effective communication at all times through the project teams utilising the project framework adopted.
  • To be diligent in maintaining records of activities on both time sheets and activity logs which may be subject to subsequent audit, All written work must be well structured, accurate and easy to understand.
  • To ensure that all Policies, practices and standards are understood and rigidly adhered to.
  • EXPERIENCE:

- minimum 12+ years

- minimum 6+ years in Project management

- minimum 6+ years in managing multiple teams of people

- Membership of relevant professional body

- IMPA Level A Qualification
