The Infrastructure Architecture role is to join a team of Infrastructure Architects who are responsible for global infrastructure design, standards and governance. The successful candidate should have a broad technical knowledge and be able to produce designs as well as peer review in-depth technical solutions.
You will have a strong background in infrastructure and be comfortable translating business requirements into infrastructure solutions with scalability, security and resilience in mind. You should always be looking to improve process and solutions whilst ensuring consistency in aligning with the clients architecture principles.
You will have a genuine passion for technology, keeping yourself informed with industry trends and be comfortable constructively challenging decisions.
This role will be based in Edinburgh and you will report to the Head of Infrastructure & Technology Architecture.
Responsibilities
* Ownership of infrastructure solutions, turning requirements into detailed designs through requirements analysis and working closely with Solutions Architects
* Own all infrastructure and non-functional aspects for designs
* Detailed solution analysis with options presentation in conjunction with other members of the architecture team
* Ensure designs and technical architecture changes are approved via the appropriate deisgn governance boards, e.g. Infrastructure Design Authority
* Evaluation and recommendation of software, solutions and toolsets
* Adopt industry best practices and methodologies in the proposed solutions
* Development of the right and appropriate documentation at both business and technical level
* Identifying, recommending and delivering opportunities for improvement to enhance quality, efficiency and effectiveness of deliverables
* Stakeholder management

Required Skills
Candidates should be able to demonstrate that they have previously worked on large-scale projects with a focus on the following technical areas:
* Strong Server, Compute and Virtualisation technologies
* Storage technologies, including SAN architecture/design
* Network, firewall and lod balancing Design considerations
* End User Computing/Workplace technologies with specific exposure to VDI
* Design-level understanding of SQL Server RDBMS resilience models
* Exposure to hype-scale Public Cloud capabilities, e.g. Microsoft Azure
