Position Description

  • Understanding the business requirements / problems, use the right tools to solve the problems and meet the business SLA’s
  • Use Informatica as the ETL tool in moving data from multiple applications built on heterogeneous systems into FIMS (Fraud Investigation Management Systems), the primary application which analyses the loans and detects potential frauds.
  • Understand the way in which the FIMS application is built by interacting with business, Product owners and Investigators and what kind of data the application demand and what are the systems that they are looking to source the data from.
  • Interact with different stakeholders or up streams that source data to FIMS in understanding how the data is built on the source systems and design a plan to move data in to target systems in an effective way to in which the data yields more meaning to the investigators in detecting a potential fraud.
  • Conduct periodic meetings with the team members to explain the changes happening to the systems and update the team members of the changes happening to the system and how the data models of the source systems are changing and how we are adopting our ETL systems to absorb the changes.
  • Document the data models and the system build and update in the team Confluence page for team reference purposes which is critical in the times of any knowledge transfers to new team members.
  • Prepare the Specifications documents, design documents and entity relation documents using design tools like Rational Rose or Erwin, Unit test documents and maintain the versions in the team Confluence site.
  • Design/devise plans or data models that would be more effective in moving data between the systems especially when they are built on heterogeneous systems where data has traits of the hardware they were stored on.
  • Understand the ways the data can be moved into systems built on cloud like Salesforce on which FIMS is built and the behavior of historical data when moved into CRM (Customer Relation Management) systems.
  • Transform and manipulate the data in a way it is easily digestible by the hosting application and makes the experience of the users more easily understandable.
  • Automate the testing strategies like unit and system testing to make the process of moving and making the data usable quickly.
  • Engage tools like Jenkins, Bitbucket and Git hub to make the code check-ins robust and the maintenance of code easier
  • Develop new ETL projects where FIMS would be consuming data from new age EDW system built on Netezza/Oracle on a one time historical basis and then on incremental basis monthly.
  • Use ETL tool, extracted data from xmls sent by upstreams such as EDI and loaded it into the Salesforce. Similarly, loaded the data from FICO generated xmls to database and then to salesforce as per the business requirements.
  • Designed the pipeline where data ca be seamlessly integrated between Oracle built IRE system and Salesforce built FIMS systems where the investigators perform their primary investigations on the loans sold.
  • Engage Jenkins in deploying the code, from lower environments of development or testing to higher User Acceptance and production environments, which made the CICD possible n FIMS and encouraged more developers to actively engage in Continuous development/deployment methodology which is more suited to dynamic and robust applications like FIMS.
  • Involved and participated in discussions with Release management teams and L3 teams to make sure the ETL and data analytics part of the FIMS is in strict adherence to all the security policies of the company and all the secure protocols are in place during the data movement between different systems.
  • Participate in brown bag sessions to discuss and understand the latest trends in technology that makes the software development and evolution more advanced and robust.
