Head of Development-Yorkshire/Berkshire/Kent -Contract-£600-£800 a day depending on experience
Overview: A fantastic Insurance Company based across the UK is searching for a Head of Development to join and oversee their Software delivery across the offices. You will drive best practices to improve the quality of the work delivered through improved processes, standards and tools used for software delivery and provide deep expertise, technical authority and guidance whilst taking responsibility for the quality of the development teams work.
This role can be based out of my clients office in Yorkshire, Berkshire or Kent and regular travel between the sites will be required. A full UK Driving Licence will be required.
Role & Responsibilities: • Advocate quality through the use of best practice techniques and tools for development teams. • Establish and maintain standards and good practice for software development. • Manage capacity and skills within the team, recruitment and use of 3rd parties in order to deliver the agreed pipeline of delivery. • Drive Dry Principles, TDD and BDD, continuous integration, automated tests, pair programming and code reviews. • Support Senior Developers with technical advice and guidance. • Embed a culture of agile working. • Work with Head of Architecture, Procurement Manager, DevOps Manager, Product Owners and Business Solutions Managers on a daily basis.
Essential Skills & Experience: • A track record of being a leader in technology delivery which has evolved from a strong background in hands on development across a range of technologies. • Track record of successfully delivering large or complex products/projects, with significant software development components through the full lifecycle. • Knowledge of design and architecture concepts including Microservices, AWS, Azure and ESB approaches. • Proven ability in leading, managing and growing development teams. • Experience of Microsoft stack including .Net, C#, MVC, SQL and web development tools such as CSS3, HTML5, jQuery and JavaScript. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engaged and communicate with Senior Leadership Team and Stakeholders.
Package: •£600 to £800 a day depending on experience. • 6-month contract.
