The Northwest Berry Foundation is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team! We are currently looking for a graphic web designer to fill a contractual position. This position will design, expand, and maintain a new website for our partner, the Northwest Center for Small Fruits Research.

Since 2014, the Northwest Berry Foundation has been disseminating information for the Northwest berry industry. We work to gather and distribute berry related information, helping support a strong small fruit industry in the Pacific Northwest. We are a hub of research, information and resources for PNW berry growers, researchers, and industry organizations. Responsibilities include:

• Generate a new website to house all NCSFR activity. The website will house all the branding and information sent out to the industry to generate a consistent message so NCSFR can better serve/inform the berry and grape industry.
• Implement website archives and database development.
• Logo and brand development.
• Edit conference research presentation videos and upload them to NCSFR website database for future use and reference. Track the number of views to assess engagement.
• Manage NCSFR mailing/contact list (Mailchimp).
• Event planning, webinar hosting, and virtual conferences.
• Assist with establishing a social media presence for the NCSFR and generate a weekly update.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Proficiency in WordPress, Squarespace, Adobe Illustrator/InDesign/Photoshop, and Mailchimp is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in web design and development, computer programming, or graphic design is preferred.
• Experience with survey distribution and data synthesis.
• Strong organization skills and clear communication.
• Ability to generate branded material and logo development.
• Ability to receive constructive criticism from co-workers and stakeholders about new branding and logo development. Incorporating feedback into branded material is essential.
• Experience with website databases (MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with wine grape or berry communications is a bonus!
• Experience with both graphic design and web development
• Video editing and webinar hosting is preferred but not required.

Job Type: This position could be anywhere from 15-30 hrs. per week depending on what your expertise is able to cover for this project. Hours will be front loaded for the first year of this project to allow for website development and expansion. As the project progresses, website development hours will be reduced.

Location: The ideal candidate should be located in the Portland, OR area. Although this is a remote position, it is essential that the individual be available for semi-regular/weekly in-person planning meetings.

Pay: This is a three to five-year contract position. Contract term will be dependent on industry stakeholder decision. Compensation will be determined based on experience. Pay range: $24-$27 per hr.
