Palladium is a child-safe organisation, and screens applicants for suitability to work with children. We also provide equal employment to all participants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, veteran or marital status.

Project Overview and Role:

Palladium is seeking a consultant to provide design and production services on an ad-hoc basis primarily for Health Policy Plus (HP+), a USAID-funded project, as well as other projects. The mission of the HP+ project is to strengthen and advance health policy priorities in the areas of family planning and reproductive health, HIV, and maternal health at global, country, and subnational levels.

Consultants will work in coordination with HP+ communications staff to complete projects on an as needed basis using existing InDesign, PPT, and Word templates and to create unique designs. This may also include the production of technical posters, PowerPoint presentations, infographics, videos, and other creative products.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The objective is to provide graphic design support for HP+ and other Palladium projects on an as needed basis.

The consultant will work and collaborate primarily with HP+’s communications team. The Consultant’s scope of work and responsibilities include:

  • Support the design of products, such as briefs, fact sheets, reports, PowerPoint presentations, training guides, infographics, etc., in multiple languages using the Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office on an as needed basis
  • Format and finalize publications in accordance with project branding and style guidelines
  • Prepare files for print and online dissemination as PDFs, including ensuring that products meet U.S. government accessibility regulations
  • Coordinate with communications staff to determine project deadlines, outputs, formats, process, and rounds of review

The duration of contract will be from November 30, 2020 to November 30, 2021 (the anticipated end of the HP+ project). Deliverables will be determined on a case by case basis. For each deliverable, the consultant will be required to provide:

  • Completed deliverable in the requested format (PDF, Word, PPT, etc.)
  • Supporting design files used in the creation of the deliverable (i.e., packaged design files, original artwork, etc.)

For each assignment, the consultant will coordinate with Palladium staff to determine deliverables, deadlines, rounds of review, format, and other requirements. The consultant is expected to use standard design software, i.e., Adobe and Microsoft programs, in order to ensure compatibility with accessibility requirements. The consultant should be familiar with USAID marking and branding regulations and follow HP+ guidance, as well as follow HP+’s style and templates.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience working with clients on publication design using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop as well as using Microsoft Word and PPT
  • Experience with providing accessible (508-compliant) PDFs
  • Experience designing USAID-branded health and policy-related materials
  • Ability to work efficiently under short deadlines
  • Ability to work remotely and coordinate with HP+ staff by email, phone, and Skype
  • Spanish-language skills highly preferred
  • Hourly rate, references, and work samples requested
