Full Stack Developer - Python/Django (Remote)

Overview

We are searching for a Full Stack Developer with Python and Django to support the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) is part of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in North Bethesda, MD. NCBI is the world's premier biomedical center hosting over six million daily users that seek research, clinical, genetic, and other information that directly impacts biomedical research and public health - at NCBI you can literally help to accelerate cures for diseases! This is a full-time position with full benefits. You will start out working remotely until we beat Covid. Duties & Responsibilities

• Build robust, performant, user-facing web applications in Python/Django supporting millions of daily users
• Develop, create, and ship new functionality for user interaction and scientific data visualization, using modern APIs and frameworks
• Work as an integral part of an agile product team to deliver an unbelievably great user experience
• Deliver responsive, accessible, mobile-friendly code of high quality (automated test/build/deploy)

Requirements

Qualifications

• Requires at least 5 years of Software Development experience
• BS in Computer Science or scientific field (engineering, physics), or equivalent experience
• Proficient with one of the current languages: Python, Kotlin, Java, JavaScript, C++, C#, Ruby, etc.
• Experience in the design and development of sophisticated, modern web applications and services
• Familiarity with relational databases
• Should be self-initiated, intuitive, and possesses technical and business acumen

Highly Desired

• Experience developing Django web applications and services
• Working experience with JavaScript Frameworks such as Angular and ReactJS
• Experience using web services and RESTful APIs
• Familiarity with search engines and backends (Lucene, Solr)
• Semantic markup and modern web layout techniques
• Selenium testing
• Proficient understanding of Git version control system
• Experience with agile development processes
• Excellent teamwork, communication and collaboration skills
