Front End Web Developer/Designer (Remote)

We are looking for a front-end developer that is both, capable and reliable, to work with on an ongoing basis. The right candidate will utilize their coding experience to bring designs to life while optimizing them for search and mobile.

Your goal would be to take our designs, or design direction, and deliver simple, hand-crafted WordPress websites geared towards specific audiences. An emphasis on custom WordPress, SEO, responsiveness, and usability is key.

This is not a design position, primarily a coding/production one, yet an ideal candidate would be able to take a given design and create interior pages based on the overall look and feel within WordPress.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Translate designs into functional, responsive, custom WordPress websites
• Customize third-party WordPress themes into branded clientwebsites
• Maintain existing client websites and expand on them
• Work with existing third-party WP plugins or create custom ones
• Deliver consistent user experiences across browsers, platforms and devices
• Engage in project planning: pre, mid, and post project
• Stay up to date on the latest development trends
• Optimize given code to reduce bloat while increasing functionality and performance

Required Skills:

• Proficiency of WordPress, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/jQuery, and PHP

• Proficiency converting designs from Photoshop or Sketch into valid markup
• Experience with stylesheet languages such as SASS

• Proficiencyof inline code documentation
• Ability to manage multiple projects under deadline with strong attention to detail
• Must be fast, self-motivated, organized, proficient, reliable, accessible, and accurate

Preferred Skills or Experience:

• Experience with Restful APIs

• Experience with a version-controlled workflow
• Proficiency using task runners such as Grunt/Gulp/NodeJS

Education and Experience:

• 3+ years practical and professional usage of WordPress, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/jQuery, and PHP with examples

Location

We're a distributed team based out of Tyler, Texas. Many of us work remotely from home office, co-working sites, or coffee shops. The ideal candidate would at least be available for infrequent meet-ups around the Tyler, Texas area.

Compensation

This is a contract to full-time hourly paid position with the potential for advancement pending proven performance. Contractor's billable hourly rate is commensurate with experience. Contractor invoices will be paid every 2-weeks.
