Major League Hacking (MLH) is looking for a Front-end Developer to help us educate and empower our community. Every year, thousands of developers, designers, and makers attend MLH events where they learn new skills and develop a deep passion for technology. As a Front-end Developer, you’ll be responsible for helping us translate our goals into compelling interactive web experiences for our community. You’ll partner with a Web Designer and our CEO to quickly bring designs to life as HTML, CSS, and Javascript.


This is a 4 - 6 week contract role for 20 to 40 hours per week. We’ll ask you to come to our office for in-person sessions some days, but you will be able work remotely once the project is underway.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write code & launch products that empower developers around the world. Your code will directly impact the lives of thousands of developers, designers, and makers around the world.
  • Partner with a webs designer to bring their designs to life. You’ll work directly with a web designer to convert designs into high quality HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

  • 2+ years of professional experience in web development with modern technology stack.
  • Experience with HTML and CSS/JS frameworks (Bootstrap, React, etc.).
  • Experience working with REST APIs.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Responsiveness — we’ll be iterating over your work quickly.
  • Experience with Ruby is nice to have, but not a requirement.
