Aquent's top client is looking for a Front-End Developer and Tagging Specialist in the Oakland/San Francisco area. (position is remote)
This position is a contract role for 6 months which could extend or lead to perm. This is open to remote work —
we expect availability during core hours with the team in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our office is located close to BART in Oakland, CA.
We are seeking a passionate, driven Front-End Developer and Tagging Specialist join our engineering team for one of our Fortune 500 CPG clients’ in-house creative agency.
These technologists work on a wide range of interesting and innovative projects including UX prototypes, smart speaker skills, mobile apps, and a WordPress CMS/e-com platform powering 40 responsive websites.

What we’re looking for:
We are seeking a Front-End developer and Tagging Specialist. This developer will work primarily in the Wordpress
stack, though there will be a growing number of NextJS sites so experience with NextJS and React is ideal. In both
stacks, solid skills in fundamental JavaScript, markup and CSS/Sass is crucial. Developers with deep attention to
performance and accessibility as it relates to SEO and the emerging Web Core Vitals standard are also required.
In addition to the hands-on coding activity, this role will work closely with the Analytics team to add and maintain
tracking functionality for all our sites. This role will require experience with Google Tag Manager: creating triggers,
configuring events, manipulating the data layer, integrating 3rd party functionality, cleaning up existing tags, as well
as custom Javascript via GTM.
Responsibilities
o Participate in development activities
o Write clean HTML, JS (vanilla and React) and CSS code that is accessible and performant on all major browsers and devices
o Create / edit PHP or Twig-based Wordpress templates
o Manage tracking functionality (40%)
o Work within GTM and directly within site code to maintain tracking functions
o Foster collaboration and help to increase the knowledge level of the team (5%)
o Research and share industry innovations and trends, continuously improve our expertise and processes
o Collaborate closely across disciplines (UX, visual design, PM) and accurately report project status to leadership
Requirements:
• Experience with Google Tag Manager including configuration of custom events and triggers, manipulation of the Data Layer with JavaScript on the page and within GTM and integration of 3rd party services within GTM
• 3+ years writing responsive code using HTML, CSS and JavaScript for emails and websites
• Experience with Wordpress including related libraries and technologies including:
• Advanced Custom Fields, Twig and PHP
• Experience with React based frameworks like NextJS or Gatsby.
• Experience with modern, industry-standard design tools like Figma, Sketch, and InVision
• Knowledge of modern performance and optimization techniques for front-end code and assets (images, video)
• Knowledge of current accessibility standards (WCAG 2.x AA)
• Experience with modern collaboration tools: Microsoft Teams, Jira, Slack
• Clear communicator, able to keep project members apprised of development status
