Job Description

Sylger Corporation is an administrative and technical support contractor to the federal government. We have an immediate opening to provide support to a federal agency located in downtown DC. The candidate must be able to pass public trust security background review. This is an onsite, contract support position currently funded through September 29, 2020.

We are looking for a Python Guru with extensive system level test experience,combined with ETL data management and extensive knowledge of cloud, Data warehouse. information technology, data analysis and visualization. Knowledge of data visualization and analytical tools a plus.

Required/Desired Experience: :

  • ETL (extract, transform, load)
  • Expertise developing ETL pipelines using Python (e.g., using Pandas) in an environment that uses DevOps principles (e.g., automation, infrastructure as code, containerization, testing).
  • UNIX background and if Azure wonderful.
  • SSIS (SQL server integration service)
  • Data Warehouse Concepts
  • T-SQL DBA Concepts
  • SQL Realtime Questions

a. Additional Skills Required

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and above;
  • Procedural SQL development using the T-SQL dialect;
  • SQL Server Information Services(SSIS) or similar ETL/ELT tool; and
  • Deep understanding of the relational data model and common data warehousing methodologies and architectures (e.g.,Inmon-style data warehousing, Linstedt’s Data Vault).

Knowledge/Experience Desired - Please indicate in your cover letter which one(s) you possess and level of experience (knowledgeable, intermediate or proficient)..

1. T-SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS);

2. SQL Server Reporting Services(SSRS);

3. Python, Pandas data modeling tool;

4. Attunity or similar data warehouse automation tool;

5. Experience with database administration activities (e.g., backup/recovery, schema-level permissions, job scheduling);

6. Commercial cloud computing experience (e.g., Azure, GCP, AWS);

7. Version control or source code management systems (e.g., Git, TFS);

8. Issue/project management systems(e.g., TFS, Github, Gitlab);

b. Tasks

  • Writing transformation expressions or functions, tests to ensure edge cases are handled correctly by the transformation, and documentation to explain how and why the transformation works;
  • Proposing and designing changes to a physical data model toresolve identifiable problems;
  • Developing procedural SQL, SQL Server Information Services(SSIS) jobs, or set-based SQL scripts (i.e., using a SELECT-INTO-FROM pattern)to extract data from a source system and load it into the data warehouse ortransform and load it between logical layers within the data warehouse;
  • Monitoring deployed ETL/ELT jobs and debugging/troubleshooting any errors/issues encountered;
  • Amending ETL/ELT scripts to correctly handle exceptional aberrant records; and
  • Writing tests to verify the integrity of relations/objects within the data warehouse.

Pay: $62.00 - $69.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 10 Hour Shift
  • Monday to Friday

COVID-19 considerations:
During the COVID-19 government response, remote work opportunity is available. However, once government returns to normal schedule onsite presence will be required. Some telework may be allowed.

  • Python: 3 years (Required)
  • Expertise developing ETL pipelines with Python (pandas) etc: 3 years (Preferred)
  • ETL: 5 years (Preferred)

Education:

  • Bachelor's (Preferred)

License:

  • Data Vault 2.0 Certification (Preferred)
