Job Description

To support the EP/T Software Engineering team to enable them to provide support, fix existing problems and add new functionality to the bespoke data replication software tool. To assist with new toolset deployment to ensure the business remains in contract as required by the Eurofighter Project. To act as Oracle DBA to all live and test PCMS databases and support to user base both locally and at other nation sites.

WORKING HOURS
- 5 days p/wk (Mon-Fri) around relevant site core hours (7am - 6pm Mon - Thurs, 7am - 12.30pm Fri).

  • Hours required to work per week are 37.00 unless otherwise stated (this does not include lunch breaks).
  • Start and finish times to be agreed with local Line Management, in accordance with local site core hours.
  • Lunch break (unpaid) is 42 minutes which will automatically be deducted each working day from 12.30pm to 13.12pm by the electronic time management system.

  • Dependant on workload, local management may request more or less hours are worked within this contract.

Responsibilities


The successful candidate will be required to perform tasks suitable to the internal level of this role. The role will contain, but will not be limited to, the following

Investigating problems with the PCMS, Replication and Web Reporting Toolsets. Implementing changes in the Toolset in response to EQNs raised against it. Support clearance activities for new toolsets functionality. Key skills are Unix scripting (ksh, bash), awk, sed, SQL, UML, Software Design methodology, Oracle Database administration skills and all microsoft office tools. The engineer should be familiar with C, C++ and C#. Familiarity with the EPT toolsets, in particular PCMS (PVCS), would be an advantage.

Responsibilities
Oracle 8/10/11 Database Administrator
Supporting the team leader in creating and disposing of databases, Database/Listener startup and shutdown, Performing database maintenance (refreshing/creating indexes, adding new tablespace, analysing execution plans) and performing database restoration after a crash


Dimensions 6/14 Database Administrator
Assisting the team leader in managing Dimensions processes, listeners, web servers and licenses, Configuring Dimensions server installations, Development of triggers code (C) and investigation of user problems, foreign and domestic. In addition the Web Reporting and Replication toolsets are to be supported to - Code, test, deliver upgrades to EF Standards. Support for these two toolsets both locally and at other nations sites by monitoring and investigation of problems to solution delivery.

The following will be required of the successful candidate:



EXCELLENT - Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Powerpoint, UNIX.

GOOD - PCMS, Java



Personal Skills

GOOD - Communication, Team Working and motivational skills.



The successful candidate will have a degree, HND or equivalent and experience in a relevant Engineering discipline.
The successful candidate must be pro-active and have strong team-working & communications skills.
