DevOps Engineer (Promtheus/Grafana)

Job Description:
Must have experience with setting up a Prometheus monitoring environment and configured it themselves from scratch.
Top Three Skills:
_1. Experience implementing or adding in new configurations in Prometheus_
2. Experience configuring and troubleshooting Prometheus and Grafana – Ex: configuring monitoring for CPU usage, storage, databases, etc.
*3. Experience working in an environment with Kubernetes or OpenShift *
Job Description:
Need: 6 month engagement of Prometheus skilled engineer to assist with new deployments
Must have demonstrable, expert level skills in Prometheus.
Must have experience with Grafana
Must have exposure or experience working with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift
Would be nice to have experience with ELK (Elasticsearch/Logstash/Kibana)
Duties will include but may not be limited to:
Building new deployment configs
Where applicable, training Amex staff
Troubleshooting new deployments
Additional Information:
This person has to have implemented Prometheus from scratch or has to have added new configurations - just managing and maintaining it isn't enough
Work Environment:
Can sit fully remote and might fly in a couple times for a week or so.

Impact to the Internal/External Customer:
This team is providing site reliability engineering for NeMo. Internal customers would be NeMo engineering team and NeMo business org.. external customers: ensures AmEx has highest availability to their card holders possible, which provides a positive customer experience and saves AmEx millions of dollars.
Business Challenge:
Project NeMo- ensure 99.999% availability – this role will help with infrastructure monitoring for NeMo.

This person will be the lead Prometheus expert.
Non-Technical Skills:
Can sit fully remote but will travel in a couple times for a week at a time* - this person will also help train other engineers. There is a single point of failure as it pertains to Prometheus, so this person will be the expert on the team. Must be able to come in as an expert and hit the ground running.
- This person doesn’t have to manage clusters in Kubernetes, Prometheus an Grafana are in this environment so all they have to have is experience working in a containzered environment
