DevOps Engineer - 6 month contract (Remote)

Validis is a late stage start-up company with an innovative SaaS / managed enterprise platform for the banking and finance sector.

The company is currently running a microservices based platform, in the UK and North America, within the Azure environment and looking for an individual to join the organization to help drive the implementation, operation, enhancement and optimization of this environment.

Job Summary & Qualifications

We are looking for individuals searching for 6 month contract position in a professional development within an established global startup FinTech company. Candidates must be highly organized, able to function in a fast-paced environment and have a willingness to engage with Validis clients.

Summary:

• Maintenance and expansion of automated provisioning and deployment processes using puppet.
• Ensure proper uptime, rollback capabilities, load-balancing configuration, database configs, backups, for all environments.
• Assist with client facing implantations as needed
• There may be a requirement to be willing to be ‘on call’ occasionally on a team rota basis.
• Oversight of change request processes, implementation of process and best practices.
• Work seamlessly with 3rd party offshore development team to troubleshoot and rectify issues
• Report status of Devops issues and blockers to Product Engineering Lead.
• Support budgeting and planning activities for Devops team
• Oversight of cloud infrastructure (MS Azure and AWS)

Qualifications Required:

• Three (ideally) years MS Azure Service Bus, Blob Store, ACS / ACS Engine, Firewalling, Kubernetes in azure a bonus and Vault.
• Experience of working with offshore development teams from a development and operational support perspective.
• Experience of operating within in an enterprise support & operations environment
• Docker and microservices architecture experience
• Experience in the following Technologies: Kubernetes with Helm/Tiller, Puppet, Linux (Ubuntu), Jenkins, Microservices architecture,
• Excellent Troubleshooting skills, low level tracing abilities.
• Knowledge of Network fundamentals
• Knowledge of Security fundamentals (any GDPR experience)
• Experience of implementing and operating within a Continuous Integration process
• Familiarity with scripting against cloud APIs (beneficial: python, BASH, ruby, etc)
• Ability to explain complex technical issues in lay terms
• Confidence to own any given infrastructural elements (production and back office) and implement new ones when required.
• DevOps experience with defined development, testing and release phases and procedures

Qualifications preferred:

• JIRA, Confluence experience
• TICK Stack
• Terraform
• Experience with multiple lifecycle applications
• Knowledge of securing cloud infrastructure
• Experience of managing big data infrastructure
• VCS systems, GIT and Mercurial
• Domain management / Registration (DNS, DHCP, etc)
• Windows AD and general Windows Domain Experience (In particular Security and User management)
• NFS systems using ISCSI, Coraid storage
