Desktop Support Engineer, Falkirk – £130 per day

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Desktop Support Engineer to join a well established managed service organisation based in Falkirk, as the Desktop support engineer, you will ensure that that 2nd line activities within the service desk are carried out within agreed SLA parameters and adhere to all internal processes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities of the Desktop Support engineer will include but not limited to:

  • Support the service operations team with the resolution of more advanced/complicated incidents for all internal and external applications, websites and services for UK service customers.
  • Ownership of communication with the customer in relation to incidents and associated resolution times
  • Assist with overseeing/mentoring junior members of the service desk team
  • Completion of daily IT service checks and tasks
  • Support project work
  • Developing processes to ensure we deliver a proactive service e.g. patching, backup restore checks
  • Investigating, diagnosing and solving computer software and hardware faults
  • Maintaining customer CMDB’s.
  • Provide ad-hoc on-site support for UK customers where a local presence is specifically required.
  • Work with Project delivery teams to ensure knowledge transfer and service acceptance activities are completed for new services being transitioned into operational support

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Experience of working in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment
  • Understanding of ITIL principals
  • Ability to work effectively within the Service operations team
  • Key skills in Microsoft technologies and core desired technical specialisation
  • Effective time management
  • Ability to apply own initiative to tasks and as a team where appropriate
  • Willingness to work out of hours as and when required
  • Can do attitude and willingness to perform support tasks
  • Flexibility in job roles
  • Ability to identify upselling opportunities within customer accounts
