Lead Service Designer needed in East London Ref 12392 Paying £450 - 480 per day
The Lead Service Designer will:
Lead by example both in how you conduct yourself and in providing design excellence identifying and promoting good practice.
Lead discussions at a senior departmental level and successfully negotiate legislative change to accommodate new services
Design service level agreements for new cross governmental services
Work with other specialists to, design and create organisational and financial structures that support service delivery of new services
Represent government design at external conferences
Play an active part in the design community’s recruitment and selection process
Analyse failure within services and identify root causes for that failure
Find opportunities for cost reduction and improvement within an existing service
Understand user needs and identify where separate interactions with government should act as one service that meet that need
Arrange these separate interactions into rational user journeys within that service
Look for commonalities in activities across services where products could be made
Understand the existing supporting system of a service and design targeted improvements to that system to accommodate the new service - both digital and process based
Create and rapidly iterate service prototypes
Identify and design new cross government service patterns and standards
Welcome the constructive criticism of their work and be able to constructively review the work of others
Explain design decisions and be able to represent a service at a service assessment
Engage the whole multidisciplinary team with the design process
Run and lead on Design Workshops
Skills and experience:
Ideally have a design related degree, or relevant industry experience
Experience of sketching and prototyping on paper and in HTML
Demonstrable experience of explaining design ideas and concepts in a way that other people understand
Demonstrable experience of how to interpret user research
Demonstrable experience on how form and function work together
Experience of removing complexity from services
Experience writing for user interfaces
Experience of assessing a service
Demonstrable knowledge of how the internet works
Experience of leading design workshops
Experience of working in a fast paced agile environment
Experience in line management, helping colleagues with their career development and coaching more junior designers
Experience of negotiating important design decisions successfully with senior partners
The ability to work autonomously away from their team
