Job Summary Title: Senior Database Engineer Location: Washington, DC Duration: Longterm Responsibilities and Duties
Required experience in design, development, administration and maintenance of Oracle and PostgreSQL database products.
Required experience in data warehouse design, development and enhancement.
Understand, enhance and develop the complex data model of large Enterprise level system
Design and develop ETL and ELT routines using open source tools like Kettle or others.
Experienced in DataOps practices in agile development teams.
Perform Capacity Planning, recommend most effective ways to increase performance including hardware updates, server configuration changes, or index/query optimizations.
Plan and implement performance monitoring, space and logs monitoring , ensuring jobs have run successfully, etc.
Expert in logical and physical database modeling and design of Data warehouse structure.
In depth knowledge of writing and tuning PL/SQL and T-SQL.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Work in a collaborative office environment with other developers, business analysts, and a project management team.
Other similar professional duties maybe assigned as needed
Required Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis, information systems management, software engineering, statistics, mathematics or related discipline; or professional certification and in-depth knowledge of database technology and DBA tools
Experience with diverse databases such as GreenPlum, PostgreSQL, AWS Redshift, Oracle, MySQL and NoSQL databases.
Proficient in ETL, AWS, Tableau, Linux, Shell Scripts. Perl, SSIS, Salesforce, Jira, SVN, Python, Netezza, ERWIN, performance tuning, data quality governance and other open source technologies like Talend, Kettle Pentaho, GitHub, Airflow, MongoDB
5+ years’ experience working with data warehouse and business intelligence projects
The position demands strong analytical and troubleshooting skills while working on a custom mission critical production level database
An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for two years of experience.
