As a Sr. Data Database Administrator you will join a high performing team of other expert database and data storage engineers. This is an exciting opportunity to work in AWS to help secure and manage petabytes of data. The role will focus on AWS technologies like S3, RDS (Postgres), Aurora, DynamoDB, Neptune, and Elasticsearch. There may be opportunities to work on other open-source and third party technologies as well.
Responsibilities include:
What you will do
- Encrypt database and data object storage
- Monitor database health
- Backfill objects into encrypted storage
- Database migration
- Develop infrastructure-as-code
** Basic Qualifications **
- 7+ years of experience as a database administrator
- 5+ years of experience with AWS
** Preferred Qualifications **
- Deep experience with AWS S3 (Buckets management, ACLs, lifecycle policies)
- Experience with AWS S3 management tools like S3 batch
- Experience with database migration using AWS DMS (Data Migration Service)
- Project management experience with database migration
- Knowledge of AWS security (VPC, IAM, Secrets Manager, Security Groups, WAF)
- Experience with building Terraform-based infrastructure
- Experience coding in Python
- Unix shell scripting
- Experience with Application Performance Monitoring (i.e. New Relic, Datadog APM)
- Experience with Splunk
- Experience managing AWS billing, tracking and cost optimization
- Experience with AWS resource tagging for optimal reporting

" Tell me about the team dynamic/culture. The Data Ops team is a high performing team. The work extrememly well in remote environments because they stay constantly connected over Slack communication. To be successful, this individual must be online at all times during work hours so that communication is free flowing. The team expects members to reach out with any issues but also take initiative and ownership to drive projects to completion.
