Job Purpose:

As a Cloud Engineer, you will implement highly-available, elastic, governed, and secure cloud infrastructure. You should be experienced with infrastructure as code and employ automation and continuous improvement to build cloud environments. You will be joining a growing and highly visible team which will help shape architectural strategy and design moving forward.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a computer science or information technology field.
  • 1+ years experience as a Cloud Engineer working with Amazon Web Services with a background in Networking VPC, NACL, SG, GW, Endpoints, Route53. Security IAM, Logging, Encryption and Systems EC2, EBS, S3, DBs.
  • Experience with CloudFormation, Lambda.

Job Purpose

The Cloud Engineer II will be responsible for day to day customer support of infrastructure public and private cloud services. You will be responsible for operating within a "Operations" or "DevOps" organization. You will also work within the hybrid cloud strategy including operating public and private cloud technologies (Amazon Web Services (AWS), VMware, Azure, and Openstack), leveraging and learning with hands on experience in cloud operations. You will work closely with the other Cloud engineering and architecture teams & the broader organization supporting day to day operational incident, change, and problem management cases.

Essential Functions

Experience/Background

  • 2 to 5 years of experience
  • Previous experience providing outstanding customer service, exceptional technical resolution and problem solving skills. Thorough understanding of the emerging cloud environments (public and private).
  • Demonstrated general subject matter expertise for public and private cloud services environments.
  • Primary interface with software vendors for support as well as application and infrastructure teams.
  • 1+ years hands on public cloud expertise, which may including Amazon Web Services and/or Azure.
  • 1+ years months hands on private cloud expertise, which may including VMware and/or OpenStack desired.
  • 1+ years months hands on Chef / automation / orchestration (or similar) expertise.
  • 2+ months hands on Perl / Ruby / Python / Powershell (or similar) expertise.
  • 2+ months image management expertise - building, managing, maintaining, and patching (VMware, Amazon AMI's, OpenStack Ubuntu / CentOS).
  • 2+ months Service Oriented Architecture expertise.
  • 2+ months Linux / Unix / Windows system administration / scripting expertise.
  • Demonstrated operational solution management, facilitation and customer service interactions.
  • Experience working in a large scale DevOps environment desired.
  • Experience working with Amazon Web Services, EC2, Glacier, EBS. Experience working with Openstack technologies. Must have virtualization technology experience.
  • Experience with large scale redundant infrastructure (compute, storage & network) architectures.
  • Must have Vendor Management, IT Support and Project Management Experience.
  • Strong Communications skills required. Ability to work across teams/time-zones, supporting and managing large infrastructure & cross-organizational projects.
  • Ability to leverage a global team of Project Managers, Architects, Engineers & Contractors.
  • Proven track record in supporting all aspects of technology needs from start-up through maintenance desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceive and deliver a broad range of technology solutions to solve complex global application problems desired.
  • Experience working with Global Teams desired.
  • Experience supporting large multi-tiered projects and programs desired.
  • Strong Conflict Resolution, Negotiation, and Influencing skills desired. Strong Written and Verbal Communication.

Special Knowledge/Skills (Preferred):

  • Outstanding customer service to Cloud customers
  • Scripting, automating, orchestrating day to day operational tasks
  • Create and utilize automation and orchestration to support cloud service environments
  • Scripting of day to day operational tasks using industry standards (examples: Puppet, Chef, Rub, Perl. Powershell)
  • Technical support for infrastructure public and private cloud services (examples: Amazon Web Services (AWS), VMware, Azure, and Openstack)
  • Develop/update getting started guide, self-help, how-to, FAQ support and documentation for supported cloud services
  • Develop/update runbook documentation and processes for day to day operational support
  • Adhere to cloud consumption principles and educate customers on how to consume cloud services
  • Troubleshoot identity management and authentication issues and provide resolution
  • Utilize available cloud tools (i.e. ServiceMesh) to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues
  • Work closely with service architects, engineering and infrastructure teams to help improve and grow knowledge
  • Ability to quickly respond to incidents, analyze and re-mediate to restore service
  • Day to day operational support of cloud services
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure cloud computing best practices are learned, followed and applied
  • Initiate client troubleshooting sessions and recommend technical solutions for how to resolve
  • Learn and update cloud services best practice and troubleshooting runbook
  • Build customer relationships and communicate cloud consumption best practices
  • Learn and teach infrastructure and application architecture
  • Interface with software vendors for support as well as application and infrastructure teams
  • Learn, update and follow production support and operations plan, including monitoring solutions

Work Environment

  • On-call support may be required

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Salary: $55,000.00 to $85,000.00 /year
