We are a 'digital-fabrication' company that creates multiple styles of software for end clients that operate critical business or scientific infastructure, both frontfacing and internal apps. Our products are varied so expect fun tasks that challenge the status quo when working with programs & software, many of our client systems have field applications that are essential to gathering good data and transmitting it, makes for some interesting profiles.
You will be responsible for the server-side of our web applications as well as some more difficult technical frontend functionality. As a backend developer, you will work closely with in house management, frontend devs and designers to ensure system consistency and improve user experience, often solving technical issues that others will rely on your expertise to get fixed. Additional responsibility includes server setup and management, backups and storage, basic consultation and time estimation with very little end-client interaction. While this is listed as a contract position, we would like this hire to become full time and if the fit is right - we will want to transition to that within 180days if you are open to it, if not and you would like to continue to be a freelancer we still encourage you to apply! We work has a hybrid remote team, meeting onsite frequently but everyone has a home office and a flexible schedule. Requirements

Responsibilities
- Participate in the entire application lifecycle, focusing on coding and debugging
- Write clean code to develop functional web applications
- Troubleshoot and debug applications
- Perform UI tests to optimize performance
- Manage cutting-edge technologies to improve legacy applications
- Collaborate with Front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server side logic
- Gather and address technical and design requirements
- Provide training and support to internal teams
- Build reusable code and libraries for future use
- Liaise with developers, designers and management to prepare projects
- Follow emerging technologies
Skills
- Proven work experience as a Back-end developer
- In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment)
- Hands on experience with programming languages like PHP, Python
- Working knowledge of CMS frameworks & JS Libraries
- Familiarity with front-end languages (e.g. HTML, JavaScript and CSS)
- Server management & setup experience (We use Google & AWS)
- Experience working on digital/remote only teams
- Excellent analytical and time management skills
- Teamwork skills with a problem-solving attitude
- BSc degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
