App Developer - Contractor

Role description:

We are looking for a self-sufficient app developer (Android/iOS/ReactNative) to build and test our first device applications that will interact with our SaaS applications. You will design, implement and integrate the applications and contribute to the supporting system architecture. This is a chance to join a fast moving startup, on a short-term employment contract with the possibility to extend to a full-time role. Working with the applications development team and other engineers you will deliver rapid solutions for the demonstration of key technologies to customers.

Essential skills:

• Strong problem solving, communication, and teamwork
• Rapid / iterative development skills (Agile)
• Android development experience
• Multi-platform device development experience (ReactNative preferred, Android, iOS)
• Interacting with multiple web services (APIs and Sockets) with offline support
• Interacting with devices/accessories (USB/Bluetooth accessories, Camera, GPS, IMU)
• Familiarity with Devops, TDD, BDD, CI, CD etc.

Desirable skills:

• Full-stack design and development experience
• Experience with multiple modern full-stack technologies such as MERN, React, ReactNative, Angular, Vue, Node, SQL, NoSQL, REST, etc.
• Security essentials, session management, etc.
• SaaS / B2B / Multi-customer development and deployment experience
• Early stage startup experience

• Machine learning/GPU experience, especially Jetson TX2 or Nano
• Running deep learning on embedded devices
• Experience coding with various computing platforms (Linux, windows, mac, raspberry Pi, arduino, GPU, etc.) or languages (Python, C, javascript, Go etc.)
• Running code on tiny platforms (Raspberry Pi, Arduino, ESP32 etc)
• Awareness of modern software development (CI, CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Vue etc.)
• Communication technology experiments (wireless weather station, IoT, satellites, cellular etc.)

Location:

Our core team is currently based in Harwell Space Campus. Some remote working is negotiable with this contract.
