Ansible Software Engineer United States citizenship required per government contract (no dual citizenship). Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements. Project Duration One to Four years Location Gaithersburg, MD Note In response to COVID-19 personal safety recommendations, a work from home plan is in place. When it is deemed safe to return to full staffing levels, the candidate will be assigned a work space and expected to work on-site on a full-time basis. Summary The TFDM Program is an FAA NextGen program based on airport surface management concepts developed under Next Gen direction. TFDM capabilities will be incrementally deployed to provide efficiencies in the airport surface and terminal airspace by providing new integrated surface traffic control and management capabilities. TFDM functions include Surface Collaborative Decision making (SCDM), including departure scheduler and other airport decision tools Electronic Flight Data (EFD) Enhanced Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) Traffic Flow Management System (TFMS) and replace or integration of multiple systems in the National Airspace System (NAS). TFDM will share data among controllers, aircraft operators, and airports so they can better stage arrivals and departures and manage traffic flow within terminal airspace for greater efficiency. Stakeholders will have a shared awareness of flights on the ground and in the air, the ability to exchange data electronically, and a constantly updated picture of traffic volume and airport resources, which will help stakeholders to make flights more efficient from gate to gate. Scope The Ansible Engineer will possess experience and skills using the Ansible software that are comparable to a subject matter expert. Incumbent will work with the Software Engineers, Systems Engineers, and Test Engineers, as required, addressing ad hoc questions and resolving programmatic issues. Provide Ansible Software Engineering Services to assist client with creating custom modules. For example Given a dictionary of Ansible variable values, parses a shell file and overlays values from the file for Ansible variables that were empty. Given a pathname of the release checkpoint file (wlrelck.mab or OPS or oscutover.ckp for SUP), parses and returns the releases by slot name. Templatizes the task variables of the task in order and places them into the return (register) output for later use. Helps when multiple dependent variables need to be defined, especially in a loop. Review Ansible SW developed by the Customer to provide suggestions on appropriate modules to be used, participate in code inspection, help with design changes etc. Work with the Customer to mentor and strategize on how to configure and maintain Red Hat technologiesAnsible based on Red Hat industry experience Help with projects, planning, architecture designs, configuration, and platform migrations of Customer's Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment and Ansible technology Help Customer with standard System Administration tasks such as designing, building, supporting and troubleshooting the RHEL Operating System, RHEL technologies, third party applications running on RHEL-based servers and Ansible Support Customer's RHELAnsible technologies across the enterprise and all computing environments Help with Ansible performance tuning, optimization and system security hardening Help with disaster recovery strategies in relation to Ansible architecture and design Perform system diagnosis and working with Customer to troubleshoot Ansible related issues Participate in escalated support activities for Ansible related issues Implement and execute standard procedures for the administration, backup, disaster recovery, and operation of the Information Security systems including operating system security hardening, security hardening for Ansible, backup management, capacity planning, change management and lifecycle upgrade management Help with evaluation of third party vendor products with respect to compatibility with Ansible based systems Help Customer in meetings with third party vendors with respect to technical questions regarding Ansible Desired skills include knowledge of FAA systems, air traffic management, and tower controller understanding.
